Hi All,

I am new to the forum, and have been playing poker consistently for about a month now. I think I have a fairly decent grasp on pre-flop play which has kept me out of a lot of trouble. Problem is my post flop play is rough. I figure the best thing for me to do is start posting hands and asking questions. I started out on 2+2 but they didn't seem very friendly towards the newbies. This forum seems much nicer in general. So here is my first hand for review.

PokerStars - $0.02 NL (9 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (UTG): $2.46
MP: $0.91
CO: $1.60
BTN: $2.06
SB: $0.74 - First hand with him and he took off after this hand.
BB: $2.76

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02, CO posts DB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.05) Hero has Q Q

Hero raises to $0.08, fold, fold, fold, SB calls $0.07, fold

Flop: ($0.20, 2 players) 3 3 T
SB bets $0.12, Hero raises to $0.24, SB calls $0.12

Turn: ($0.68, 2 players) K
SB bets $0.42 and is all-in,

I feel like him being all in this would be ok to call. I'm curious what you would do in this situation and if lets say he had a larger stack and this didn't put him all in.

Raise bigger on the flop and with his stack size you always call the turn. If he had a bigger stack not raising the flop larger would be criminal so I won't really comment about what you should do against a full stacked opponent on the turn.

BTW welcome to CC and thanks for posting a converted hand and not posting the results.

Welcome to CC. You're right about this place being a lot more friendly and welcoming than somewhere like 2p2, there are a lot of people on that site and a lot of them are just trying to be the coolest person around, rather than trying to help people out...

As for the hand, it looks like you played it ok, maybe look at raising the flop bet a bit larger, if he is going to call your raise to 0.24 he will generally still call if you were to make it say 0.36, or even putting him all in as he is so short... Making it 0.36 would make the turn an easier call as he would only have 0.30 left and the pot would be ~0.80.
As for calling the turn shove, if we call we need to win over 25% of the time here to show a profit. Against an unknown short stack at 2NL I think we will see enough bluffs/spazzes here to call it...

I will definitely watch my bet sizing. Normally reraising this I would bet between .36 - .48. I think my problem is as I get more nervous about the hand my bet sizing begins to shrink. Its definitely a leak on my part as I have noticed a few occasions where I am giving people odds to draw on me. My first two hands posted have enlightened me quite a bit.
