actually no, it was okey he can't ever guess that you have 444, your playing might present weak A, like A5 or something. So there is a chance that he is like A10, or even A6 with 2 pairs and he checked on flop, like "easy i'm nuts".
You could raise even more, he would call you i guess.
For me nothing is wrong here, not too aggressive
