I have KK UTG so I raise it up 5xBB and get called by villain who is 33/7 after 42 hands and is a calling station. The board comes paired and I decide to be 60% pot and villain calls. The turn is a brick so I bet again and villain calls. The river is also a brick so I know I should shove to take down the pot since it is very unlikely that villain has a 9 given that I raised 5xBB. Would villain call a 5xBB with 99, 97, or 77? Maybe but villain could also have just connected with the 7 and call all the way down since many micro players do so. I shove although I feel I am beat.

Fishy station villain can definitely call 5xBB raise with 9 containing hand imo but I wouldn't be too worried about that. Looks good to me the way you played it, I would be surprised to see him show up with a lower PP, 7x or even AK/AQ.

edit: should read '...I wouldn't be surprised to see him show up...'

You know how dumb that sounds right??? Shove for value here is fine. Probably letting the results cloud your thinking a bit.

BTW 37/7's do NOT care if you raise 5x or 50x if his hand is pretty he's going to see a flop. AA, 99, 77, A9, T9s, 98s, 33, and 22 (28 combos) are all in his range but if he "puts you on AK" so are 44-66, 88, TT, JJ, and QQ (42 combos).

Thanks. I guess Im just getting a little burnt out since ive been playing standard TAG but am leaking money. I actually get worried when I have Queens preflop now because my results have been win the blinds or lose a massive pot to AA or KK several times now.

c/c river would be bad since this guys loose passive. hands like TT JJ or other pairs likely wont be betting from this villain but they will call a shove. nh

He could had anything. It would not be a surpise if he called all the way with a 7 or another pocket pair. I think a check on the river wold had been a better play . His river agression tells you some info and helps you decide what to do if he goes all in. Also his WTSD telss you some more.

The result does not matter. What matters is the play. Always keep this in mind. That's why ppl do not post the results here. So that who ever reads this makes a habbit on judging how to play hand without thinking at the actual outcome.

We're actually thinking a 2nl 33/7 is even considering what we might have?

Putting someone on AK is the only hand reading fish do. And it's not really hand reading just a way to justify calling with 5th pair.

check/calling is bad here. Pretty standard shove. So many other overpairs villain can have.
