Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 67/20/1

Villain: 67/20/1
Button: 25/0/0
Hero: 20/13/5 with c-bet % of 100%
-all samples are 18 hands

Notes:
Villain autocalled my last three preflop raises and my c-bet on the flop. In two out of three of those hands he raised the turn and the third he just called. All of which he folded the river bet. Probs just tries to take pots away when Hero shows weakness.

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the raise preflop in terms of size and actual play and then what I should do on the river. I think there are some Js in his range but because of how he played the flop and turn I dont think we can put him on a boat. Also, I think KK+ raised the flop and turn bet. Should we just shove the last ~50 BBs into the pot and hope we get called by Ax hands? I think just because the villain is a fish, I want to check the river and hope he goes all in based on the notes that I had him on him about how hes played the last few hands.

3b size is a bit too big imo, 3x the original raise gets the job done and saves you money if he shoves and you have to fold.

I probably check/call the river.

I think the bet sizing is pretty good considering there's 2 limper's. Your forcing the limper's to fold their marginal hands because they have bad pot odds.

Heres why.

Hes a calling station so his range is pretty wide.

Flop J-J-8

You bet he calls.

By him calling it reduces his range. High pairs. low pairs. straight draws. (assuming hes calling with any pair or straight which is a pretty safe assumption against a calling station.) Hands with 8 and hands with J.

Turn Q

VILLAIN could have hit his straight. 9-10

IMO you should check this turn because #1 it gives villain a chance to bluff. #2 Based on what he does after you check will lead you to making a better decision on the river. But you will lose some value. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

You bet which is OKAY too. But you really didnt learn anything about what your opponent has because he called. So his range is the same as what it was on the flop.

River 8

Worst card ever.

Villain range. Hands with 8. Hands with J. Straight Draw. And High pairs.

There is now a Straight out there that beats you.
All jack hands beat you.
All 8 hands beat you.

Its not looking very sonny.

Desicion:

Its tough.

Check River. Call a medium size bet.

If villain is a complete donky he might bet river thinking its a split pot with Ace high. But if villain shoves, its a insta fold for me.

Betting river is bad, only better hands will call you.

Hope that helped you. Cause it took me alot of time to write all this out. Haha

Wanna know why? Your bet sizing on all streets is too small.

I didnt comment on your bet sizing but hes right you should be betting 2/3rds or MORE of the amount thats already in the pot.

villain is never folding, and hero is trying to get him to spew. so why would we bet more? it seems terrible considering reads..

Even if that were true that he is never folding. How about just betting more for value if nothing else? AQo is way ahead of a 67/20's range preflop and well ahead on the flop as well.

You hit trips 3% or something on the flop so it is unlikely this very loose player hits this flop. Also he would have certainly played more aggresively if had a J. He probably called the flop and turn with a pocket pair and i would bet the turn bigger and also bet the river to get value from this station player.

bc chance that villain goes nuts increases as the size of our bets in relation to pot size decrease imo. i think theres a much better chance that villain doesnt have something to call river with, but will just spew ATC cos we acted so weak

I think you are way over thinking this. This is a drooler fish. All they do is call, call, call. They flip out once in a blue moon when they get frustrated enough. There is no indication of any history here. You make big bets for value versus these types of players and watch your winrate go up.

Hero says he auto calls flops, raises a lot of turns but then folds rivers. I think that these fish arent Mixing it up. If this has been his strat last 3 times, it's his strat all the time afaic. So he's fairly aggro and just folding when we show strength OTR. if we bet he very likely folds, if we check he very likely bets any kind of value hand and we can ship over for value. If he checks back then IMO no harm done bc he wasn't calling anyway.

Idk OP, take both of our advice into consideration and I guess use whichever you think is more appropriate for the situation. We both have a ton of micro crushing experience and I don't think there's really a right or wrong answer.

Agree to disagree :)

EDIT: although I only just saw that his AggF was only 1. BR is prob right then Unless his river aggro is big

The sample is only 18 hands so it is difficult to really say much about the player beyond that his VPIP and PFR, 67 and the 20 respectively, are both probably fairly accurate. Good discussion though. I don't want to look at this hand anymore haha. I know that you have done quite well for yourself in poker so I respect your thoughts and opinion as well :)

As hes sad player his range of calling turn maybe all the shit like low pockets a10, a9. So you wont value bet much, his folding all the crap on the river. But check/call kinda ok option. He must be upset to miss. But on the other hand we look weak and our opponent really drives us outta pot on that uncomfortable board. But its better to check and call a bluff or get beaten by full. But also he isnt going to bet much with that 8 and X. I dont feel betting river.
