Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 62/3/1

Here is another hand I'm not quite sure what the right call would have been.

PokerStars - $0.02 NL (9 max) - Holdem - 7 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BTN: $2.93
SB: $2.00
Hero (BB): $2.50
UTG: $1.62
UTG+1: $1.97
MP: $1.00
CO: $1.51

SB posts SB $0.01, Hero posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has K K

UTG calls $0.02, fold, fold, CO calls $0.02, BTN calls $0.02, SB calls $0.01, Hero raises to $0.18, fold, fold, BTN calls $0.16, fold

Flop: ($0.42, 2 players) Q 8 7
Hero bets $0.40, BTN calls $0.40

Turn: ($1.22, 2 players) 5
Hero bets $1.16, BTN calls $1.16 I figure he is calling me down with some kind of Qx combo.

River: ($3.54, 2 players) Q
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.19 and is all-in, Hero ??? I'm not sure if this should be a check fold or if I should have just shoved the last of my stack. Or maybe I played the whole hand horrible?!?

You can shove because his 2 pairs are counterfeited now, he calls 99-JJ, 8x so you're ahead of his calling range

As played it's a fold if he's passive a call if he's not. He seems passive from the HH obv

easy all in situation, if he sucked out on you, get used to it. but he can also shove with a lot of other things.

don't check the river, just put it all in, sometimes you will lose to a Q, but most time you will win the hand. so, making it profitable to push.

Thanks for the replies, I kind of figured I should have just put it all in instead of check calling.

Except JJ-99 would raise preflop some % of the time, so his calling range is considerably narrower, potentially making betting a bad play given his range is basically a small number of underpairs, Qx and busted draws.

I'd say the number of flush draws in his range is pretty important - if he's at all aggressive a c/c can be much better than shoving given he's never calling busted draws but often bets them.

c/f is fine if he doesn't bluff missed draws.

Yeah I was saying he should shove because this guy is passive, which means he isn't likely to bluff missed draws (if he does, Hero should know about it). I disagree with JJ-99 raising pre though, you'd expect a 62/3 to limp them imo
