$2 NLHE Full Ring: KK in MP vs Huge 3b from Btn(Tight) - Post flop decision
(Long post below, just scroll to hand history if you are not interested in reading my rambling)
This is a very strange hand that I got into just earlier. The button is a solid but tight player playing strong hands. I have also been playing a tight range and showed down strong opening hands in big pots and good hands on small/mediocre pots. Interesting was that this was the first time Btn 3bet, especially on my 2bet because we stayed clear of each other with minimal damage.
I was sure he was holding Aces but Queens or maybe AK would not be far behind. I did not want to shove here instead see the hand post flop (for some reason I cannot explain, maybe fear of Aces).
Flop was a dream for Aces or Ace King (I do not think he would 3bet with TT or JJ or even AK for that matter but who knows). I checked the flop for (i guess) pot control and just to see how much Villain would bet, plus he was the aggressor and he let out a hefty 3/4 pot bet. Flop had an over which could've heavily hit to Btn but I had a GS so the flop call came easy.
Turn invited all the crazies in, Flush got there as well as 2 combinations of straights. Villain's betting was also weak here as he went for 1/2 pot which I took more as against the board texture.
River was an 8 so any queen was the nut straight and there was still Flush out there (I highly doubted villain for flush as I was more convinced of pocket pairs but what do I know). Now the pot was massive as we had ~>150BB to start ( would we both be pot committed here?). I highly doubted I could take the pot in a showdown and that Villain had me beat but I also somehow felt he wasn't too happy with his hand. Given strong starting values he is most likely to have 3 Aces or Ace pair King kicker. On the other hand I could have Pocket queens or AQ as I just cold called the 3Bet (Kings would've definitely shoved. Maybe AK as well)
For some weird reason I made an unorthodox play and shipped it on the river even though Villain got a 5.2 to 1 here to call.
Does this make sense? (I'm not sure if it does) Also what do you think most likely the Villain range was? Also could we have gotten Aces to fold with that bet against the Villain? But most importantly should we have gotten away from the hand if we just checked and the Villain bet us All in? (I think I would've folded if Villain bet but this way I bluff shoved my remaining 50BB)
Thanks and I know this was a crazy play so let me have it
