so he calls my 3BB raise. I cbet the rainbow flop and he calls, so I'm putting him on an ace. Turn comes 7 clubs. He checks so I check behind thinking my KK is no good to a pair of aces. K clubs river puts a backdoor flush on the table. Pretty certain he has an ace so no fear of the flush. He bets. I'm putting him on AQ, not much chance of him holding AK, maybe he even flopped a set. Is this a cooler or did I do something wrong? Didn't put him on a straight at all. :(

You didn't read this before posting did you? ;)

Hand Analysis - READ BEFORE POSTING!!!

Is this on Bovada?

I'm not a cash player, but this just looks like you're just being results oriented to me. Seems to me he had odds to call the raise pre and post flop (although his UTG limp is questionable, imo). But let's see what the real cash players have to say. In the meantime, please read the above link. :)

Raise bigger pre, check behind on the flop as it's a WA/WB situation.
Bet turn when checked to you again to get value from flush draws, straight draws and under pairs to KK (88-QQ).
Depending on villain I can see an argument for calling the river bet but i'd probably raise for value as a lot of sets/two pairs or poorly played Ax can still call here.

Convert your hand and raise a little more pre
Check flop. Your either miles ahead or mile behind and your rarely going to get three streets of value from worse
Shove river. As played snap call the 3bet.

Sorry i'm new time poster, lurked about for a bit before, shoulda checked forum guidelines. Not bovada it was on pokerstars. results orientated? Don't get your meaning.

Been trying to build a bankroll but hold em doesn't seem to be as profitable for me as limit stud. I got poker tracker free with their offer. Still to figure it out fully. It does tell me though that i lose the most money on AQ. Makes me almost lose faith in the hand altogether.

I am very much a recreational player, so I don't play the volume or the limits to really worry about tracking software (plus I dabble in SNGs and MTTs). But we do have a whole section on software tools here: Poker Software & Tools. It's a good place to start if you have questions on using Poker Tracker, etc. I think you're best bet now is to analyze those AQ hands and figure out why it's unprofitable for you, and plug those leaks, rather than "lose faith" in it. :)

By results oriented I mean you played the hand well enough (some minor tweaks needed), you were just unlucky. Just because you lose a hand doesn't always necessarily mean you played it wrong.
