Hi all !

I'm a newbie to cash game with around 6k hand at 0,01-0,02 stakes on Pokerstar . I need your opinion about a hand I just played today .

The table is 8 players . Villain raise 3,5BB from UTG-1 , all folded to me at BB and I flat call with 8d8c . Flop is 8d2cQs . The villain stat is 16/9 over 30 hands + and the way he raise from EP makes me think about his hand range from 99+/AK .

I bet half the pot - 0,07$ ( because the flop is pretty dry ) and he cold called .I thought maybe he has 99-QQ ( as QQ may slow play here because he is IP , and KK/AA will just re-raise me )

The turn is Jd . I feel a bit uneasy here so I bet a quite small 1/3 pot ( 0,1$) and he re-raised to 0,25$ . I flat call . The river is 4c . I check and he bet 0,6$ to 0,79$ pot . I call.

Is my play EV+ or EV- ?

Thanks for your help :)

Please get the hand history and use a converter to post hands. This is quite hard to understand.

I'm not a specialist if it is EV+ or EV-, but I think that is is standard call. You have a set, I don't see any escape in this hand. If opponent has better set - that's tough! but it happens very rarely, usually he can have AQ or KQ etc.

Preflop: fine to call to set mine

Flop: don't like the donk bet, let him cbet and if he doesn't then donk the turn

Turn: bet bigger, there isn't much reason to ever do less than 50% pot sized bet at 2nl. I would tempted reraise him for value here to ~65c as the board is getting quite dangerous for you, it's wet so you can play your strong hand fast.

River: Since you have donk bet the flop and turn I would just do it again for value you have a nice hand and you don't want him checking back. As played Im re-raising him all in.

Pre flop call is good for a set mine, I believe that having only 30 hands on our opponent is much too small of a sample to be basing our decisions on the hud stats, I treat all players as loose passive fish at this level until they prove otherwise in a hand, I get around 100 - 200 hands on them or they are multi-tabling regs. (Is this ok, or am I being too dismissive?)

The flop is begging for a C-bet but we don't know if villain is capable of recognising this. I would probably be checking and if villain checks behind going for donk value on the turn, and re-raising any bet for value. If I have information that Villain won't C-bet this board enough then donk betting for value is ok but we want to be going for max value, probably closer to pot. If villain has a hand then sizing won't matter to them (low stakes).

On the turn I would be making it closer to .25c for value. As played I believe we can re-raise villain here, his range is JQ, sets and nut flush draws I believe, AJ is floating the flop sometimes also, but its hard to see villain raising this here. I'm happy getting it in here, Villain could even have KK+ here sometimes and be getting spooked by the flush draw. If villain has exactly JJ then unlucky, re-load and keep grinding.

On the river I think we can shove over villains bet, villain will have KK and AA sometimes here also JQ, I think its pretty close, if we put villain on these hands then we should be jamming, if we put him on an over set we should be folding, if we think he bets his sets as often as his missed flushes we can probably justify a call. I think I'm Jamming here.

As explained in my #1 post , I was chickened out after the turn bring a J over the board and the villain suddenly re-raised me . With that thinking in mind , I can't jam on the river .

I think I should play more aggressive , like bet 2/3 on the turn , allin if being re-raised and accept that I'm unlucky if he hold JJ .

Turn out that he was holding QcJc and I won the hand .

Thanks you all for the advice ! :shakehand
