First post, love this forum & looking to improve my game, so any help with this one would be brilliant!

Basically I'm ace High flush, got no reads on villain and its 2NL. Board comes:

10 10 Q

I'm drawing at this point, all checks.

7

Completes my flush, I make a pot sized bet.

1 call.

Last card, 7.

I check, hoping to check raise, villain pushes all in! Now I'm worried a full house, so I fold, right decision?

Thanks guys!

It's not even a close fold on this board. This could be a worse flush played horribly but I doubt it. nh

What I thought, had him slow playing a ten, so was up for taking his stack, then that 7 kinda killed my buzz!

You were going for a check/raise on the river? You probably want to be betting small/folding or check/folding. So well played, but I don't like the idea of check/raising. You could check/call if he bets a stupid small amount.

Yeah I was thinking a check raise if he bets very small, as that would represent weakness? Or would this board be too dangerous for me to bet a large amount?

check raising is a big no no here for sure. he bet all in so you didnt have to make that decision anyway but you have to think would you EVER get called by a worse hand if u check raise? and would he ever fold a better hand than yours? if he had a 7 maybe you could get him off but even then i highly doubt it. only hand youd beat is kj or j9 and thats hopeful thinking. he gave u an easy decision. if he bluffed it was a nice one and i suppose the way you played you made it clear u didnt like the river

that was a big thing ive learned is knowing when to do it. people are so good at story telling in poker now that you have to make sure your story makes sense and is convincing if you are bluffing. ace high flush is normally great but not there. sometimes players will make odd all in raises or what seem like value bets with weird hands that you would think theyd prefer checking as it wouldnt be called by a worse hand. if he had an ace in his hand, a flush, a high pp or a queen i think he would check it. if he was drawing to the flush had a 10 or 7 or any sort of missed draw he will most likely bet either because of the value he wants out of his nuts or he is bluffing because he knows he has no chance to win the pot if he just checks it.

+1.
If you want to value your hand on the river than bet. And i am not talking about this hand only. It is a mistake in general to check/raise on the river. If he has a marginal hand he will not gonna do it. If he has the nuts you are broke. Value your hand and you will take a decision if he goes over the top. As played i think check/fold is correct because of the river card.
Ps. There are situations where you can check the river with the intention of stackin off. But that requires a specific type of villan and situation. In general pls value your hand.
