Here's the story. Table tighten up considerably after a couple of crazy all-ins. The 3 players on my left were tight (SB:15/11, BB:7/5, UTG:no reads but he just sit down) and I managed to steal blinds everytime I had something remotely playable and raised until this hand popped.

BB: $2.01
UTG: $2.00
UTG+1: $0.95
MP: $2.80
MP+1: $1.57
LP: $3.12
CO: $5.34
Hero (BTN): $3.32
SB: $2.03

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has [8s] [6d]

fold, UTG+1 calls $0.02, fold, fold, LP calls $0.02, fold, Hero raises to $0.08, SB calls $0.07, fold, UTG+1 calls $0.06, LP calls $0.06

Flop: ($0.34, 4 players) [7h] [As] [10d]
SB bets $0.24, fold, fold, fold

So either the SB got tired of being stolen or in fact he had something. That ace is a scare card but I did have a draw. Pot odds were against me so I mucked. Question is: could I have done something different?

im not raising pre with 86 vs two limpers as im leaning toward higher cards that make TP. if you are going to iso raise then you need to raise bigger to .12c-.14c

as played, of course fold

Damn, that didn't even cross my mind. I've been raising higher against limpers (+1BB/limper) but I don't recall thinking about that while I was reviewing the hand, meaning I didn't think about it when I played.

Now I have a bunch of 'what ifs' floating my head. What if I raised higher? Maybe SB would fold as well? Maybe I would isolate SB assuming he had a hand...

make your stand raise .08 pre so it should be .08+.02per limper because your raise size pre here is ridiculous.

Isoing is fine imo since most 2nl players love to play fit or fold

My standard raise is 4BB but I didn't add 1BB per limper.

What made me post this hand was that I had a gutshot but couldn't find any good reason to call or raise the SB bet. I had no pot odds, I had the donk bet in front of me, overcards. It just felt a miserable position to be so I folded.

If I had SB isolated by raising pre higher, what would the course of action be? Fold anyway?

Yeah then fold anyway, because your plan was to take the pot down with a c-bet.
Raising here would require you to put him on a bluff a large % of the time, as you only have 4 outs if he calls. Since he called pre in a spot where he's folded a lot, you have to give him credit for a hand that's at least playable.
Pretty much any ace is well in his range, as well as many tens, and he donks into you, which from a tight passive player nearly always means he likes his hand a lot.
Same goes for calling really (I assume your plan there is floating in hopes he checks the turn so you can take the pot there). He's not bluffing often enough.

I agree with folding this pre.
Usually if I get the feeling people are on to my steals (for instance when blinds start thinking longer to fold), I'm happy to make some folds in steal spots, so I would consider folding even when no one has entered the pot yet.
