Villian is running 30/0, 3bet: 0, fold to cbet: 0, af 2.3 over 52 hands. I cbet flop because i have a gutshot and 2 overs, on the turn i decide to check back and take the free card. On the river i hit straight but it also completes a flush draw. When he bets small on the river should i just call because there is a flush there, or should i raise for value against fishy opponent?

I probably raise it to .30 and fold to a re-raise. He will call way worse here.

Edit: scrap that... just saw your minute stack. Shove the river against this drooler.

And buy in full.

A small bet from this player is probably a bad sign because his stack is low so he could have easily pushed it all in. Prob just call the 10 and see whats up.

A nine is right smack dab in the middle of his range.

He has a big AF, and put out a check, check, bet... This is a fold.

If he had something, or nothing early, there would have been a raise. I have him on 99

I just straight up shove here. This guy is a drooler, there's plenty of hands we beat that call here. There's about a billion combos of 2 pair and 9x that he won't fold and make up a ton of his range.

Also, why are you short stacked?

Top off your stack to 2$ using auto top off = Easy game I'm raising river maybe shoving. His sizing looks like 2 pair to me. And hes never folding 2 pair so yeah I'm prob shoving.

Fold to a re-raise? You must have missed that he has the nuts here! haha

I agree with the first statement though. I'd probably raise anywhere from 30-40. Shoving he may not call here and if he has a 9 then he's probably raising over the top anyway. You often see multiple players just get it all in when they have a straight with one card being both oblivious to the increased rake and the potential higher straights.

At the end of the day, it's your call - either raise for 3 to 4x his bet or shove. Just make sure you have a full stack next time and enable auto-top-up from now on. You'll see your game improve.

a straight when there's a flush out isn't the nuts.

jam please, its 2nl he's a fish and why are we not playing a full stack?

doesn't matter in this spot since effect stacks are about the same but still, auto top and jam all day.

Fish absolutely love calling over-bets to catch bluffs. Im jamming this for sure.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I buy-in 40 bb's because i have only $16 at stars so i'm giving myself some kind of 20 buy-in bankroll by buying in short. But i hate this because i have no experience playing short and with this stack sizing i often find myself in awkward spots where i know i'm beat 90% but i have to stack off because of being committed.

This hand was one of those awkward spots. I raised to .30 and he quickly shoved allin. At this point i know i'm not in good shape but i obviously couldn't fold, so i called and he showed K5dd for the nut flush.

I agree though if raising is making me committed i might as well just shove and extract max value from his worse straights, sets, 2 pairs etc.

I actually think you make it worse for yourself by short stacking, you end up in spots with less equity so variance can be higher. Its tough to lose 8 buy-ins at 2nl if you play well because for every cooler you get a drooler. :D

I started with $17 then climbed up to $27 but eversince i entered a downswing and now i only have 14, so i think for a fish like myself

7 buy-ins wouldn't be quite enough. I think i will stop playing for a few days and study some short stacker strategy :)

Fully missed the three diamonds. My bad. Thought there were only two out!
