Villain stats: 80/0/5.5

So this guy has been shoving people around and I don't believe that he has a T, if he has 66 I'm probably shagged but that is also unlikely, rainbow flop minimises the chances of a flush.

Let me rephrase that:

If you think the majority of his range is bluffs, what purpose does raising serve?

This ainec. Why would you want him to fold his bluffs?

My logic might well be flawed but I didn't want him to fold, I wanted him to call - and that's what he did, in fact. Not just once, but three times. I suppose that I wanted him to know what it feels like to be pushed around, which is probably much too emotive a way to play poker for it to be a successful strategy longterm.

No I'm aware of that, and I didn't start this thread to give those results, if I did it would have been posted in another part of the forum. I posted to ask whether shoving and showing that you're not prepared to be pushed around is good strategy against such a player.

I think you've figured out your problem here. You shouldnt be worried about showing that you wont be pushed around. You should be focused on playing your A game. If thats what you're thinking while in a hand then your not thinking about their range and their tendencies so that you can adjust properly and exploit their mistakes and this guy looks like he is gonna make a lot of them.

I know where your coming from though. It hard for a lot of people to detach their emotion while playing. Its my #1 leak by far, no question about it.

Yeah what Brank said. I know how it feels to be perpetually 3bet by the same guy over and over. It can be tilting. But instead you've got to try to outplay him, rather than spaz out!

As people say, let him bluff himself, although I don't mind shoving here and sure why noone thinks shoving the turn is a good idea vs this sort of player? Sure we get him bluffing down but I think we get caled vs this typical sort of "hero call" sort of player. He most likely wont believe you hold a ten and call of any high card anyway and any two pair on the board. So his 6 or 4 he hit or any high cards will stack here.

I think shoving the turn is good and you'r most likely getting called with any of the boards small cards, high card and a flush draw vs this typical player.

Thanks guys. I think my main concern was whether I was still playing poker, or whether I was effectively turning it into a game of bingo. I do tend to feel that the more cards that I allow them to see, the more chance there is of them hitting something good, especially when the number of cards that improve my hand are quite limited.

The point is, if you think his range contains a ton of bluffs/hands that are weaker than yours, raising serves no purpose because he's likely to just fold all of them and raise you with better.
