I think flatting pre OOP with no reads and at the start of the session is very marginal.

Flatting the 3 bet here is marginal, yes your a little deeper than 100bb but your out of position and he is 3 betting your UTG open. This means as your range is generally tighter villains will be too, especially doing this from MP. I probably just fold here with no stats on villain.

When you do flat the 3 bet here, you are essentially set mining. Why are we donking the flop here against an unknown in that case? At higher stakes I can see this if we donk our sets almost always in this spot, against a thinking player, but i'd be prepared to barrel. At 2NL I dont like this play at all, our main concern at these stakes is value betting to death. By donking here and then barrelling the turn we are turning our hand into a bluff. bluffing is only profitable at these stakes against reg thinking players and even then when used sporadically. We have no info to suggest villain is this so should be avoided. Also sizing off a little here too, betting over about 55% of the flop in a 4 bet pot is unneccessary in my opinion but the difference is negligible.

River is a fold.

I think on preflop you should fold (if you feel that you catch 1 more 8 on flop and very want to play, you should call), because your place is utg. On river you should some bet, because if this is not done, you oppenent will bluff.

I would have check down on turn.

At that point, I dont know exactly where I stand when he called on the flop.

What exactly was your plan with your hand?

I personally feel like that at 2NL pocket pairs <10 are only profitable when you are set mining them. Calling the 3bet makes a set mine not profitable.

If your set mine fails and your plan was only to set mine don't fire those bets into the pre-flop raiser. They usually won't fold. Villain is probably holding something JJ+ and AQ+ and esp. if it's a fish they will just call you down.

River fold is correct.

My plan was set mine or hope I had a weak/tight opponent.

figured if my opponent had broadways would fold most flops/turns ... figured he wasn't lying by river haha.

Yup, fold pre and for the love of god do not donk on this flop. It literally accomplishes nothing but him folding out hands that whiffed that he would CBet so you are losing value when you are ahead and value owning yourself when you are behind.

ugly spot postflop, check call on flop, check turn unimproved hoping for AK or AQ to give up, fold turn to a 2nd barrel, check call or check fold river if you get there, depending on bet sizing.

The board looks okay to you because you can see your cards, however it's miles away from the range your opponent will put you on.
can't stab turn with gutshot because you can't rep 89 calling a 3bet pre UTG.
