Do I need to fold this on the turn? I've had a few hands like this during my most recent session. I'm going to post one or two more up here in separate threads (as no more than one hand per thread is allowed, correct)?

I kept getting bad scare cards on the turn that made me fold to pots I had already inflated.

Forget about turn play and focus on preflop. Your preflop play is a disaster.

Why are you inflating pots with marginal hands? If you stop doing this then your postflop decisions will be easier.

Because you and another poster already made it extremely clear that 19/11 is too passive. When I do play a hand, I've been trying to raise it preflop. I agree that J9 is marginal but the villain was playing extremely loose and passive. Like 40/9. This was probably the weakest hand I raised preflop the whole session.

I lost probably 50 big blinds to raising more than I usually would this last session because you folks on this forum told me to.

The question still goes unanswered: Did I have to fold that turn?

You are 3-betting an EP open with 50 BBs effective with Jack-high. No one told you to do this.

Alright man you have this all wrong. He is a 40/9 right? So that means he's only raising pre with 9% of his hands pre. Do you think J9s is ahead of a 9% range? You're at the micros, 3bet with value. Sure I light 3bet with hands like 67s or w/e, but I use it accordingly. I'm not doing it vs fish who only raise strong hands though. We didn't tell you to raise junk vs a tight open more. You're inexperienced, for now tighten up and learn real ABC poker, then you can start to incorporate more to your game.

OP I recommend you do some reading up on bet sizing because in the hands you're posting here it seems to be a weakness in your game. Just some constructive criticism.

It's absolutely something I'm working on. The thing is that with these ridiculous short stacked tables I have to play at often it's not as easy to figure out when/what to bet because so often it just winds up being jammed on the turn anyway.

I'm working on it.

I had another session last night after this one and things went a lot smoother. Thanks for the help in these threads. Obviously, if I had to do this hand over again, I'd fold pre.

I'm not really sure what you're doing pre-flop. Flop bet sizing is really poor as well.

Friendly suggestion... you need to get a lot of the basics down. Maybe some people can recommend where to start, but you need to understand your pre-flop game first obviously, since that's where it all begins. Maybe get some starting hand charts to use as a guide until you can understand the situations better and deviate accordingly.

You join into my study group on here. It might be a little beyond where you're at right now, but if you read in I'm sure you'll get some good information.

Have you read Blackrain79s book Crushing the Microstakes? It's pretty basic but gives a great start to understanding ABC poker. Read it a few times, then read it again a few times.
