No reads on the villain.

CO: $1.97
BTN: $0.72
SB: $1.55
BB: $1.08
Hero (UTG): $1.97
UTG+1: $0.97
UTG+2: $1.86
MP1: $3.40
MP2: $2.23

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero is UTG with A J
Hero calls $0.02, 1 fold, UTG+2 calls $0.02, 4 folds, SB calls $0.01, BB checks

Flop: ($0.08) 4 8 J (4 players)
SB bets $0.04, BB folds, Hero raises to $0.18, UTG+2 folds, SB calls $0.14

Turn: ($0.44) 7 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.20, SB raises to $1.35 all in, Hero calls $1.15

River: ($3.14) J (2 players - 1 is all in)

1. Is it OK to only call preflop from this early position?
2. Is turn bet too small (half pot)?
3. Is calling the All In a mistake here?

Stop limping.

Villain has 9T or 78. You are toast.

Thank you for the reply.

So I should have raised immediately, and then bet more heavily?

You missed his hand here (micro stakes may be a bit less predictable compared to higher level games) but I agree 9T is the most logical assumption.

I will wait to see if anyone else answers before I post what happened next.

1) No it is not ok to limp with AJ in this position... you either need to raise or fold it. Limping is allowing to many opponents in with unknown hand range as you have nothing to gauge where they're at. If you raise and get reraised... just let it go and move on to the next.

2) No the turn bet isn't too small as you only have tptk... i dont like to play pairs for large bets if I don't have to, I suppose you could have bet 2/3 pot if you wanted but 1/2 pot is fine

3) yes, callin all in was mistake as villain most likely has 10 9, and you are drawing dead. however if he had 7 8, you got lucky on the river!

best of luck to you!

Thanks, I am pretty sure others will agree, especially about the limping.

Villain actually had 4s 8s for 2 pairs. Why he played the flop so meekly I have no idea.

I got mega lucky with a river J and won the pot but immediately thought I messed this up (wasn't 100% sure so this is why I posted this).

flop looks pretty good, and yeah agree with above. Never ever ever ever open limp, defo fold OTT but i dont think its a snap call, i think there is a slight argument for calling as he might do this with worse Jx but it doesnt seem likely and is probably way too infrequent to make it ok
