why do you think youre trapping him, what worse hand calls a check shove on the turn? 8x? unless you know hes really bad, then i dont think so

Yeah the check/raise is absurd. You're never getting called by worse. I would have lost a decent amount (cos I bet the turn and c/c the river) but Im not getting my stack in here ever.

we dont hope opponents have hands, we put them on ranges.

button calling to make it 3 handed w A8? maybe i guess since its 2NL but its a tiny % of his range, and even most 2NL players will be able to fold top pair to that action i think

Bet the turn and he will probably raise leaving us with an easy fold, and then check call / check fold the river dependant on what it is, shouldnt be putting your stack in too quickly with such a small overpair because its hard for him to put it in with worse
