I didn't think I was beat as hard to see what sticks around to the river that backs into a flush other than maybe suited broadways, and A7hh so like 7 combo's (A7, JQ, KJ, KQ, AK, AQ, AJ) but would expect AK, AJ, AQ to 3bet pre given his 3bet (granted small hand sample) so my thoughts was to raise initially but didn't. I think I lost value from sets, straights and possible lower flushes that came in like 67hh considering they are all much more likely than the specific flush combo's that beat me.

Anyhow, thoughts on the action?

I would've definetly re-raised the river and not be afraid. Looks like he's hoping for you to fold and a bluff. I think you did lose value from from sets and 2pair and straights that would call.

Today though every pot size bet on the river has been the nuts lol... so the pattern today he had Ax suited hearts.

If he had a stronger flush who cares ... just make a note that he called turn and bets slightly over pot with nuts. And think of anything else you can do like didn't 3bet.

Your call is fine since you are so deep. You could also min raise but you can't then fold to a shove in my opinion. Your hand isn't strong enough to raise a really good player in this spot and your hand is too good to fold against a fish. So we either give the Villain credit and just call or we consider him a fish and make a committed re-raise.

You are forgetting that this is a BvB hand so the Villain could have very well continued to play a hand you wouldn't have expected him to because it's just normal in these hands for people to not let go of a hand if they see anything going for it.

Yeah it was one thing I think that kept me from raising, typically when a fish/bad player smacks the board they often just pot it and although I was confident I was ahead a raise felt thin and from past experience was often me gifting my stack to the nuts so I guess I kind of opted for the lower variance approach in the case I was beat.

Also true he was simply defending his bb which is where the potential for so many odd straight draws would have come into it that I guess could easily bomb the river as a bluff or value thinking i couldn't have backed into the flush.

Just remember bad players we want to be greedy, good players calling behind is the better option.

Also thinker is right bvb hands play differently than others and often get sticky(not folding) especially if a fish or mediocre player hits top or 2nd pair. They tend to hold on to the bitter end.

I would definitely mark him as somewhat of a fish if he didn't even have the nut straight in the end.
