PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $1.88
MP: $3.21
CO: $2.07
Hero (BTN): $2.00
SB: $2.25
BB: $1.31 complete unknown

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has A:spade: J:club:

fold, fold, CO raises to $0.06, Hero raises to $0.20, fold, BB calls $0.18, fold

Flop: ($0.47, 2 players) J:heart: A:heart: 6:diamond:
BB bets $0.08 Hero???

Worry not... it isn't a results oriented thread. :D

So BB appears to be tight but fishy, never raises or 3bets, he just stays there and calls very few hands (VPIP 17 PFR 0). So he donks with a riddiculous bet. I've seen some players doing this with draws. It's like they are betting the right pot odds for calling...

Thoughts?

i'd raise to like $0.41 by process of elimination. You can't call (need to build the pot) or fold (with two pair). If he calls value bet the hell out of turn and river because he isn't letting his ace go.

Oh and FWIW i'd do this with air too (maybe raise a bit smaller and shut down if called). The small donk bet is the weakest play in someones arsenal imo.

His range is quite wide from CO and BTN so my 3bet was for value because I was ahead of his range. I don't like that 3bet now to be honest because I lost value from his fold. At the time I was happy that he folded only because the BB called though.

Raise the flop to whatever you need to be able to shove the turn. Maybe shove if the flop raise commits villain given his stack size.

Ok, here's my thought process, any comments and criticism is very welcome.

I took a lot of time to make a decision. I put him on a range of weak A or weak J and/or draws but was too confused and timer was ticking. I made a decision based on the fact that if his best possible hand there was a flush draw + a gutshot and although I couldn't determine the math I thought I was way ahead of that.

If I raise and he calls against pot odds and a scare card hits I don't know if I can call a new bet.

So I shoved. I think it was the best decision. Odds were on me and I have a some outs to get the nuts against a suckout.

the f3bet is probably not accurate but looking at his other stats I think the 3bet is fine. As played, raise the flop and shove turn like c9 said. There are no real scare cards that can come because we're getting it on the turn like 100% of the time if he calls our raise

When you find yourself with a ridiculous SPR on the turn you probably did something wrong. I'd just shove to avoid those situations; if he has an A or FD, he's not folding.
