Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 23/20/52

I'm just curious as to whether I could have extracted more value from this hand. For a re-raise pre, I'm obviously putting him on a strong hand. Maybe AA/KK or maybe AK or AQ. Possibly even trying to bluff with pocket Js but I'm thinking the hand had to be better than that for his pre flop actions. His 3bet is about 6%, not too sure what that range is to be honest.

I just called the re-raise as opposed to a 4bet as this guy is a regular and all, didn't want to get into too much trouble. I hit trip Qs on the flop and go for a check raise as given this guy's 80% cbet I knew a bet was coming.

Looking back though, thinking I may have played it wrong. Should I have donk bet into it or check/called this? Maybe I played it all right and I just wouldn't be able to get any more value out of the hand - I'm just not sure.

dont like the check raise. You have a lot of Qx in your range here you check call with most of it, you check call with JJ and TT. More importantly his range is something like JJ+ AK for value and AK makes up a big part of that range. So yeh i like check calling flop, check calling turn, check shoving river. But i would of probably 4bet and got it in pre in this spot.

yes, check/call is the best way to go here. flop is very dry, your really not worried about any draws as ranges in 3b pots are narrow.

by check/raising you fold out TT/JJ and even a hand like AK that might hit a pair on the turn or river.

I like the check raise.
With any set other than QQ I'd just triple barrel for half pot as it's a less strong looking way of getting stacks in. However we have blockers to Qx which is the main hand we stack vs a triple barrel so I'm happy to take a c-bet off him.

I don't check/call because I doubt there are any hands that fold to the checkraise yet will barrel their stack off. Yet there are weak Qx hands that will likely call a checkraise yet checkback the turn or river.
Check/calling and donking wouldn;t be bad either, there aren't many cards that villain will barrel with anyway. Ye I probably check/call and donk turn, gives villain a chance to make a hand with his air and looks a bit more suspicious.

Deco, you realise you contradicted yourself?

The way i see it is, if we x/r we get a cbet vs his air range, and the air in his value range (AK), and yeah we stack KK+

If we x/c we still stack KK and AA on most runouts yet we give his air range another chance to make a mistake somewhere in the hand, or a good % of the time his AK hits a pair and we atleast get another street.

x/r seems to let him make the least mistakes

The checkraise will stack Qx/JJ/TT more often than a C/C>C/C. Sure we fold his air but I can't see him barreling too often, it's pretty much only an ace which will get us more action, even then we may get check backs from his weaker aces.

Villains btn 3bet% vs steal and barreling stats would be useful here.

I think with a check/call his medicore holdings get off too lightly. I'm not contradicting myself with opting for a checkraise, its a line that takes one street of bluffing rather than none (c-betting ourselves) or attempting to get 3 (check/calling). I'd prefer a check/call with a board or villain who is very likely to barrell off more than once. I think if a 2NL villain is likely to make a mistake it will be calling down weak with medicore crap as opposed to triple barreling 3bet pots.

This is just my 2cents, I think all three lines have their benefits here.

I can definitely see a x/r being good vs a lot of 2nl villains, not sure if vs a tag though, having 2 Q's means he super rarely has Qx, but yeah i wouldnt say i hated x/r

I agree with Acky here. Bar KK+ he has virtually nothing that will call the x/r. Even if we flat the flop, it goes c/c ott, then we might get a second street of value otr from JJ/1010 type hands if we lead out.

x/ring only keeps in hands that we will probably stack anyway should we call down.

I kinda like Messaihs line to just 4-bet pre with a monster, 4 handed and OOP.

As played, I like the x/c on the flop vs an 80% c-bet. We have the effective nuts and although we want to get max value, this board is super dry. Unless villain has KK+, hes not calling a x/r. The x/r only gives the villain information about our hand.

T - i probably check again unless a T/J/K/A come off
