No stats.

I figured when I hit my set on the flop that I was well ahead so I tried to give them a chance to catch up rather than inducing a fold fold, but by the time the third diamond came by the river, I wished I'd bet out more earlier. What should I have done on the flop? And given my position come the river, check or bet?

IMO your PFR is a little small, I'd be inclined to make it 9c, perhaps even 10.

I can see why you checked after the flop as the board is dry and there is little for yu to worry about. You do want to biuld yourself a pot though so a 12c bet in to 19c couldn't have hurt?

Ok when the second diamond comes you have to bet. Don't be too alarmed though as him having the cards and hitting a backdoor flush is unlikely. Remember too that you are drawing to a boat with 10 outs, some of which could help him to make his possible second best hand :)

If I was going to C/R I think I'd have put him in.

On this river I think I would just bet the last of his stack.

Letting them "catch up" only means you're letting yourself lose money. What would they catch up to? If they have a Q or a smaller pair or a straight draw or some pocket pair or some random shit they'll still call you.

This is 2nl I think just pot-pot-shove every time you have a hand, just do that on every board all the time with your value hands and you won't go wrong.

You're going to need 3 streets of value to stack the BB, so bet the flop.

I'd of checked the flop and bet the turn. Id of bet out or got it all in on the river as I think the short stack will of called with any pair as his stack is so low. Most use the though process of "it's only going to cost me 30c more" I might be ahead. He might have a flush draw on the turn, but I'd be willing to get it all in on the river his stack isn't going to cripple you I don't think he was going to try a check raise with you as you have him easily covered.

no, because:

The BB folded on the turn though. I was on about the short stack in general.

I'm just saying from my point of view that a short stack are often going to get it all in with their 50cents on one pair regardless. Short stacks are much more willing to stack off with top pair as opposed to a larger stack with one pair. That's how I see most short stack play, get it all in by hitting any part of a board.

You have no idea if he's going to fold in-hand. You want to BUILD the pot when you have a set. This is elementary.

Never, ever, EVER, EVER, EVERRRRRR check the flop.
