Hero: MP
Villain: CO

UTG folds, Hero raise $0.08, Villain: Call, fold round.

Flop: :10c4: :10d4: :jh4:

Hero: bet 0.15

Villain (after about 20s): raise 0.50

Hero: raise 0.85

Villain (after another 20s): All in 3.50

Hero: Fold.

The reason I called was because I'd folded to him on the flop a few times before, and I thought maybe he was bluffing. I folded because I thought he wouldn't have risked $3.50 unless he had at least a Jack, but more likely a set.

Should I have folded?

Also, he can't have a set here. A set is two in the hole and one on the board. Here it would be called trips. Unless you mean two jacks in the hole, but then its still not a set obv.

I don't like the double-tank raise one bit. I'd only call with AT+

Questions: how much did you have? How much did he have? What kind of player was he (tight/loose, aggressive/passive, Fishy, etc)? I don't know what your had was, so in a vacuum I guess you should fold unless you had the nuts (which would have been a mistake). Really the fold is not the question, the question is were the decisions you made earlier in the hand correct given your hand and what you knew about the player.

Without any more information I don't think you can get any meaningful input on this hand.

Hero: :8c4: :8d4: Preflop. Sorry thought I'd already posted them.

We both had the same, about 50bb.

He had been tight-aggressive throughout most of the game, but a few times he'd played quite weirdly. At one point he called Queen high flush draw for 2.5x the pot when the other player quite clearly had a set/trips, wasn't aware of the difference.

Should have folded earlier, no need to waste money here.

If it's $2nl you must have had more than 50bb's if he shoved for 3.50. So you are deep stacked. Given how much you have to risk in comparison to what you have to gain I don't see a need to call here. I don't like the raise you made either, what was the purpose? Was it a bluff? Were you trying to get value? What hands did you think were going to call you that you beat? I don't see much cause to call, you have to be right that it's a bluff so many times to make money with it.

If you had 88 why did you reraise on the flop?

Villian has 0.08 + 0.50 + 3.50 so 4.08. 4.08/.02 = 204. So villian is 204BB deep, not 50. Pretty deepstacked and you played the hand terrible as has already been said. Learn to post basic HH and not just what you recall if you want better feedback.

You didn't call his flop raise (according to your notes).

Should I have folded?
Without a very specific and reliable read, yes.

By reraising you only fold out his bluffs (or maybe get called by KQ type hands, which is still not a good result for you esp OOP). So imo folding is much better than calling (without a specific read), and reraising was a bad idea.

EDIT: I would add, it's best to wait for a hand and bet it for value, rather than trying to get too fancy - unless you're on TV ;)
