Player5 checks, Hero ??

I'm curious as to whether my best decision here is to make a river bet or check behind. In my head, I know this guy is a fish so he could easily be fishing for the flush and will have hit. He could honestly be calling with anything as far as I'm concerned - two pair, flush draw, straight draw, trips - I've seen how he plays those hands. So, should I be bet a certain amount or check behind here?

I bet, alot of flushes have come in but this guys so bad he will call down enough aces to make up for the times a flush beats us.

Bet $1 and fold if he check raises.

Thanks guys. If three regular players are telling me the same thing then I guess that's what I'll be doing next time! I think I've got myself into a bit of a bad mindset recently where I'm thinking, "I probably have the best hand but I'm not sure so I'll just check behind and save myself money if I'm beat" - I know this is bad thinking but I think it's come on because of being check raised or checking behind and finding myself beaten quite a few times recently. Monsters under the bed and all!

As played, I DID check behind and he had a weaker ace. I suppose I missed out on a bit of potential extra money with that one!

Bet about half the pot. Imo check is not bad here either. You beat more Ax-ses than beat you. Then i guess you should be betting. There are possible flushes and sets too of course, so i think it is 50-50.

Hi Jonny - This is exactly my problem too so I understand where you're coming from. Fish have sucked out on me so many times that it has made me cautious and I'm losing value and hurting my winrate. Yes, we will lose sometimes but over the long run we will win more than we will lose so we have to extract the maximum value from each hand.

The posters here have great advice and you will learn a lot by taking it. I am a noob and they've really helped me a lot. Wishing you lots of rungood!

Its not 50 50, your missing value big time here if you dont bet. Just prepare to fold to a raise.
