So I open the button and decide to check behind on the flop as I thought there is no real advantage to betting here apart from building a pot in which I'm sure any spade is calling. So when he leads out on the turn, I'm unsure of what the best play is here, either? I elected to just call so I had some pot control..
We hit a set which I think is actually quite irrelevant here or is it?
He then leads out on the river which looks very value you like but. I think he could hold a king but wasn't wanting to bloat the pot on the flop so elected to c/c if I bet.. The river card completes some straight draws but what's our play here? Do you just call/muck most of the time or is there ever an argument to even raise our set here - I'm unsure if he calls a raise even with Top pair here and only getting called by better or even raised again. I guess Q,J with a spade just got there and other combos..so what do you think.
I wasn't sure on how I should of played this hand exactly...so thoughts on each street and what you would do, would be great.
