Alright guys,

New here so go easy. Just wanted to get a few opinions on a certain hand I played during my grind.

To put some perspective into it, was about 2 hours into a 3 hour grind (set time), playing 4 tables, 2 zoom at 2NL (6-max) and 2 reg 6-max 2NL tables. Was crushing it and actually ended up having what was a brilliant session. Won 7 BIs at at a rate of 38bb/100.

Played much higher stakes in the past, however always just deposited and played 50nl/100nl etc, and always been more of a tournament player, but like the idea of taking a very small bankroll and building it slowly. Aim to turn $50 into $5000! Inspired by the likes of Jason Somerville with his #runitup series and also Felix Schneider's 'Grinding it up' series on youtube (if you haven't seen, encourage to check it out!)

So the hand in question:

Again, go easy, very possibly this is a very easy fold? However wanted clarification. This is 2NL poker, and I am admittedly still adjusting, yet still can't see any justifiable reason to shove it in with a huge hand, set etc. It sort of seems to me that he had a huge combo draw, or possibly som 2 pairs, yes it was a 3bet pot, wasn't a big 3 bet and the calls are extremely loose 2NL.

Also there is a chance he was shoving JJ,QQ,KK which seems unlikely considering pf. AT is a possibility?

My decision was that there were too many hands in what always is a wide range at 2NL that had me crushed, some stupid 2 pairs etc. There is always of course the chance that this being 2NL, the guy is drunk and just doesn't care about his hard earned $2!!

However the thought crosses my mind I made a nitty fold trying to protect my upswing!

Thoughts?

PS: as a sidenote, gonna put another hand in from the session to display the joys of 2NL, for any high stakes regs that may either have forgotten or never played these stakes..

Raise way more preflop dude. Your opponents aren't thinking.

That pocket Q hand I would of raised to atleast .12 more around .16-.20 pre-flop. I mean he might of still called but still.

+1 to raising more. Typically at 2nl I raise 5bb+1 per limper.

For the first hand, I probably fold to the turn raise too. Nh

It's an interesting one, the preflop sizing, experimented with it quite a lot. I've found if my pfr is 2.5x, I get about the same volume of calls as 3.5x. I believe the mentality of 5c or 7c is very much the same, especially for the fish/ recreational players I am targeting. The result of raising just 2.5x rather than 3.5x is of course with 1/2 callers I have a smaller pot and my cbet/double barrels are smaller. Hence I feel I am risking less to win at a higher rate - obviously a 3.5x raise means I win more, however a cbet only works so much.

Will definitely look more at pfr size.

Thanks for responses.

Yup, for sure raise more pre. He wouldnt jam a straight there but he would jam a flush draw on that scare card. Folding here is not bad but neither is calling imo.

2 limpers already in the pot, 3bbs +1 for every limper, if there loose and fishy go ahead and juice it up as much you can.
