How do you play the river here? I overbet shoved, hoping that he hit hard and would call. But now that I look at the hand again, I think he can only call the shove with QQ/8x, with which he would have probably 3bet the turn.

He can possibly have a flush on the river though...

What is the best bet sizing for my river bet?

SB stats: 26/24/0/3/38 [VPIP/PFR/3B/AF/# hands]

Turn: 5♣ ($0.15, 3 players)

Nice hand. Yeah spot on nothing calls a shove that wouldn't just gii on the turn. At 2nl if he had a spade flush draw and got there he might not give it up. Overall probably half pot might be best as Qx might call that.

Go a looot smaller there. Most of your turn bluff raises (which I assume are hands like 7s6s) now turned into showdown value meaning your bluffing range has become a lot smaller on the river. You wanna over bet if you've got a lot of bluffs in your range as you're laying your opponent a worse price to call. I can't even think of any bluffs that make sense the way you played it.

Looking at it exploitatively: I guess he's gonna call with all 8x which seems good. I do think 8x is likely to check-raise once you put a smaller bet in though. With a smaller size you will also be able to get value out of Qx, which his hand looks like a lot after his bet-call on the turn. About flushes: he should never be calling a 3x pot shove with those on a double-paired board. I don't know if he will, but he shouldn't.

I would go about half pot I think. Squeeze some value out of Qx and flushes and maybe induce a raise from 8x.

Maybe a smaller bet might work here, a lot of the players in this stakes tend to think that an overbet is a valuebet (because most of the times the players in this stakes only overbet with the nuts) i think if he calls in the turn only pocket queens or an 8 will call the all in in the river so what you have to do is bet as much as you think that a queen will pay you, then if he had the 8 or the pocket queens he will go all in.
I reacently play a similar hand but i was in the villian side, and i have pocket a pocket pair, like 33 smth like that, and i lost all my showdown value on the river, perhaps that was me on the other side of the table haha.

Hi. If it's me I just bet half-pot. Unless they were somehow on a club flush draw, probably close to anything they called the pot-sized turn bet with they would call a 1/2pot river bet with so good chance of at least a call....and there is a small chance that hands they would call an all-in with (boat with 8x or a nut flush) they might be looking to check raise you with (given your aggression on the turn). That said, I don't think your shove is really out of line, if you thought there was a good chance they hit the flush at these stakes a pretty sizeable percentage of people won't give it up on the river even with a double paired board.

2/3 pot is fine. Your bet size screams full house (most likely an 8 and your opponent can make an easier fold.) If your opponent has an 8, he will just raise on the river. If he has nothing, he can still make an attempt to bluff. You going all in prevents that.

Raising too much on the river. You scared the opponent and did not get him. It was possible to make a "not sure" raise in 1/2 or 2/3 of the bank, for a call and an autopsy. Perhaps he would even venture to tri-bet you, he will give his money himself ... Fold on the river means that you could get more.
