Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 72/3/1.1

This kind of situation happens often and I really don't know how to deal with it when it happens.

I raise PF with position on the 72/3/1.1 whale and flop TPGK on a FD board. I know he'll pay all the way to river with a draw and maybe hands like JT, QJ, J9 and 33, 66+... Bah, even AJ+, KQ and why not SCs... Truth is, I don't have any clue on what he's holding. I bet for value since I still beat A LOT of his hands and he calls.

Turn completes the draw with 47 (He might be a fish but I'm pretty sure he didn't play that), so it's mostly a brick. I bet for value again against the FDs, lower pairs and such and then it happens... min-raise !

What... the... aherm... Ok, I start thinking what he could be doing this with... strong FDs ? Probably since it seems to be the nuts for the fish at nl2.

33, 55, 66, JJ+ Absolutely
JT, QJ... Might be
KJ+ Definitely
56... yup

Can I add air to that range ? I don't know, It's rather passive so I don't think so...

I suppose but since it happens often, I don't feel like folding all the time will be profitable...

Anyway, thanks for your inputs,

When a passive player c/r you then its time to re-evaluate your hand. Also read up on the Baluga theorem. http://www.thepokerbank.com/strategy/theorems/baluga/

I also deff think 47 can be this players range. I dont know how many hands you have on them but they are really only folding the bottom % of all hands.

74s is squarely in a 72/3's range

easy fold, 24/74/55's imo. EDIT: Also 35/56 is possible

I think at the micros if you stick to the mantra of bet bet bet til they raise you cant go too far wrong, the 5 helped him for sure.

Unless you have evidence from previous hands that a villian is completely insane, they normally don't reraise with air. Guys this loose use the loose image to their advantage since everyone assumes they are calling with garbage. Which is true, but when they reraise they either have 2 pair or the solid nuts. If you're still rocking out just one pair, it's best to give it up.
