$2 NLHE 6-max: How do you proceed to c/r flop with TP GD'ish' kicker from unknown deep?

I have 17 hands on villian. He has been semi active, nothing overly aggresive.

I'm used to either just get folds or being floated with some weird random hand or a club draw.

What is your normal line here? Just fold and wait or 3bet him and fold to a shove or even just "call"?

At present I only beat a bluff but would someone bluff when I raise UTG here? I know a c/r looks really really strong, so what's your thoughts here?

I guess it's feasible to say he could call A,Q/A,x and spike two pair or even hit a set of fives here.

I know we have position here but is it even worth a call and see what the turn brings? We do have a back door flush too "could" hit a Jack..but I guess that could be really bad for me especially if I'm beat now..

Best line? Fold? I didn't feel comfortable to the c/r, it was quite big.

I think my best options if I wanted to continue in general would be just to 3bet fold the flop if 4bet or shoved on or is this jus spewy or is this better than just calling/folding?

Even with the small hand sample I think you're either crushed or you're flipping for stacks so Id fold but I wouldn't be happy about it. People at nl2 aren't usually agro enough for this to be total bluff/air.

When this happens I keep an eye on them and it usually turns out folding is the right move. If not then we know we have a reason to stay at the table.

Having the Jc is bad for us because it blocks a lot of the hands we hope he has like KJcc/QJcc/JTcc, that's probably like half of his bluffing range. The rest has us crushed.

BTW this is probably a fold pre because you just can't flop anything with AJo other than hands like this one and most of the time you'll be OOP. When you're 150 BBs deep with multiple people at the table be aware of what hands are going to give you RIO.

I would like to see his stats but I fold as well.

Generally
* AJ = A2 here, It's not like AT is check raising
*Tight flatting ranges have AQ making a good portion of them and a drought of flush draws.
*We'd like more information on villain before calling down.

So you'll open fold AJo UTG 6 handed at nl2?

yes absolutely, on most tables. Would rather have KQs by a long shot.

There are times at 6-max UTG that I'd fold AJo, but not at 2NL.

Ditto
Even then it will be damn rare and I'd likely move table if the playing conditions were that bad.

This. AJo isn't great, but at 2NL I think it's profitable with players that will call down with 'any ace'. Just don't make the mistake of paying them off when they do have a better hand, like in the above HH.

the problem you're going to have at 2NL is that you're liable to get 3 callers and play OOP with a hand that never flops anything. Even HU OOP is lame because you are never really happy with anything you flop with this hand: overcards, a good top pair, or a gutshot.

that's true baddib1 - but you UTG range seems like a 9FR range and even then in a cash game I'm sure people open A,Jos UTG at full ring.

AJo UTG in FR is an instafold, does anyone really play it there? I'd take ATs UTG over AJo any day.

AJs maybe, but I tend to fold it more often than not.

if there's a massive salmon in the blinds then I will, but I won't be happy about it.

FR I fold AJo UTG unless there's an uber fish in the blinds.

Even AJs is a fold for me UTG in FR. I dont play much 6 max but since that would be a MP in full ring, I would consider raising. As played, I would fold the flop to the check raise. Villain is likely to call with mid pp, Axs, AQo or below, or KJs+. We might be ahead now with top pair but from the check raise, it looks like villain has top pair with flush draw. I dont think villain has 55 and would probably have reraised pre with AA or QQ.

I think you played the hand fine. I like how you made your decision early in the hand. And given that we only have 17 hands on villain and there is nothing crazy going on yet I think letting this go is good.
