Hi, stumbled on a sticky situation today at micro stakes.
HERO(LP) $5.88
Villain(EP) $4.81

Villain raises from $0.02 to $0.08
Hero was dealt :qc4: :qs4:
Villain's range is pretty tight, so I ought for just a call incase facing a troublesome reraise.

Hero calls
POT : $0.19
FLOP: :4s4: :10h4: :6c4:
Villain bets $0.18
Hero reraises to $0.44
Villain calls. ( I was so confused here, if he had AA I think he would've reraised/ all in)

Pot: $1.07
TURN: :4h4:
Villain checks.
Hero bets $0.77
Villain calls (??!!)

Pot: $2.61
RIVER::8h4:
Villain pushes all-in
After a few minutes of thinking I decided to give up on the Queens.
Villain is a strong aggressive, VERY tight player. I know for a fact he isn't doing this with air. I was putting him on either a high pair JJ KK AA, or maybe even TT and he made the set on flop. Or possibly even AKs and made the flush? (Very unlikely I think)
I think if the flush never came, I would be more inclined to call, but I didn't think my hand could beat much in his range.
What do you guys think?
Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

3bet preflop or don't raise the flop. Folding because of 1 hand (AhKh) makes no sense.

Once you raise the flop and he calls then check/calls the board pairing turn, what range do you think he has?

No I folded because there was not many hands I could beat in that situation if I predicted his cards right.
No 3bet no raise on flop? Howcome?
Honestly when he check/called, my instinct was telling me TT or AA.

If you think he's too tight to 3bet preflop (his range is narrow and he folds everything but AK/KK+) then why raise the flop bet? What does he have in his preflop opening range (say 77+/AJs/AQ+) that wants to play a big pot on that flop that you can beat? JJ really and not much else.

I don't mind the river fold at all, I just think you should have got to the river in a much smaller pot since you elected to just call preflop.

Okay, against a TAG/ Nit I will try to keep the pot down unless I'm 100% sure I have him beat and hopefully I will minimise loss and give myself showdown value?

Just consider whether you are willing to risk your stack before you take actions (3betting/raising/betting) to commit yourself. Like I think raising the flop is a bad idea but once you do and he calls then you might want to consider checking behind on the turn. Since you clearly weren't comfortable getting AI (you did fold after all) I just think you should have looked to play a smaller pot.

am i crazy or how can a villain be "strong aggressive, VERY tight player"

also 3betting pre makes this hand much easier to play

Unless villian is 1/1 over a few hundred hands you have to raise pre.

These posts are golden. Why would you raise the flop if you feel that he only calls you with better hands?

Not true. If hero has a read that villain is a "very tight" player, why would we 3bet with a hand like this? He folds pretty much everything we beat and raises with better. What we should be doing is 3betting this player with more suited connectors, small/mid pairs and of course KK+ AK

3 bet pre. Fold to 4 bet. If he flats. Then your actions pot flop are fine.
