Hello everyone :)

So a few words beforehand; I actually have withdrew from this poker room a few days ago and my bankroll was at $0. Won $.7 and jumped right away into Ring Games. Everything was going fine, doubled up, then this:

Table #58803290 - Jake da rake
Starting Hand #2761527087
Start time of hand: 13 Jun 2015 02:10:01
Last Hand #2761526970
Game Type: HOLD'EM
Limit Type: NO LIMIT
Table Type: RING
Money Type: real money
Blinds are now $0.01 / $0.02
Button is at seat 2
Seat 2: Villan 1 - $0.87
Seat 3: Villan 2 - $1.86
Seat 4: Hero - $1.18
Seat 6: Villan - $2.28
Shuffling Deck
Moving Button to seat 3
ruioliveira3 posts small blind ($0.01)

Dealing Cards
Dealing :4s4::4h4: to Hero
2 folds
Hero calls $0.02
Villan checks
Pot sizes: $0.04

Dealing Flop :4c4::6h4::2c4:
Hero bets $0.04
Villan raises to $0.08
Hero raises to $0.28
Villan calls $0.28
Pot sizes: $0.60

Dealing Turn :5h4:
Hero bets $0.88 (all-in)

(Had to convert the hand myself from the history because no converter worked, but everything should be fine)

To justify this Turn shove, I read somewhere that every time the Turn completes a draw, you should go all-in with trips or better, and fold 2 pair or worse under too much heat. So far has worked out great for me.
Besides, he would call on any draw.

Do you think I could have played any better?
Thanks!!

Villan calls $0.88
Pot sizes: $2.36
Hero shows :4s4::4h4:
Villan shows :7h4::10h4:
Dealing River :8c4:
Pot sizes: $2.36
Taking Rake of $0.23 from pot 1
Hero has Three of a Kind: 4s
Villan has Straight, 8 high
Villan wins $2.13 with: Straight, 8 high

To save everyone any calculations, EV on that Turn is 70% (for me). 30% that cost me my entire bankroll :(

You could not have played this hand any better according to me. Well played. After our 4bet got called on the flop no hesitation in shoving the turn is right .Don't dwell too much on the outcome. Nice hand. :icon_thum

I would suggest buying in for the full amount. It sounds like your bankroll is not sufficient for this game right now so I would suggest making a deposit in fact then. You should have 40 or 50 dollars in your account minimum to be properly rolled for NL2.

Secondly, I would suggest not ever limping. It is much better to take control of the pot as it gives you more ways to win.

As the hand played out, it is largely just a cooler/bad beat. However, I don't think you have anything to gain by shoving the turn like that. I think you just make him fold all his air hands and snap you with the nuts or a big draw.

Any pair is a big hand with only 4 players and as your appear to be in the semi blind you should raise preflop and not give the bb a free look at the flop.
If you raise then the bb can make a mistake, if you limp he can't.
As it played out this is just a cooler as he hit two cards in a row to best you. this won't happen very often but when it does it's annoying when you are new to the game. Once you start to play 1000+ hands a day this happens more and more and you learn to live with it.

I suffer from that same 'trapping' mentality. I probably pay a steep price for it.

With this hand, logically I believe a shove on the flop is more correct than waiting for villain to fill a gutshot, or find a fit for his over pair.

As it works out, villain has the double draw and probably can not be bet out of this hand. But if he had the overpair, or even the same cards, different suits, he might balk at calling a shove to fill a gutshot.

Most of the time, sets will win. And it is that fact that makes all of us want to be trappy.
Traps backfire tho, and when they do, the results are tragic....

I think you should rise like 3 BB preflop in your spot. So you get folded hands like 710s and other one gapper suited connectors. By the way you played well this hand, maybe next time Villain won`t have luck at the river.Most of the time, sets will win!
