A couple of guys left the table leaving me and a nit against a loose player and this villain would raised one hand called another and folded the other two hands he played so, assume no reads on the villain.

I was about to leave the table when this hand hit and I decided to steal from the SB. I commented each of the steps with what I was thinking.

PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BB: $1.32
UTG: $2.02
BTN: $2.89
Hero (SB): $2.43

Hero posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has Q 8

fold, BTN calls $0.02, Hero raises to $0.08, BB calls $0.06, BTN calls $0.06

Flop: ($0.24, 3 players) 2 8 Q
Hero bets $0.25, BB calls $0.25, fold

Flopped top two pair. With the board flushing I bet aprox the pot to get value from the missed draws.

Turn: ($0.74, 2 players) 7
Hero bets $0.56, BB calls $0.56

The 7 put a straight draw up and completed the board flush. My thought was: if doesn't have a flush I'm ahead and maybe he'll fold, if he has I'm behind and I have outs.

River: ($1.86, 2 players) T
Hero bets $1.54 and is all-in, BB calls $0.43 and is all-in

And to make things worse there's a straight do add to the flush. If I'm ahead I'll make get $2.xx, if I'm behind I'll loose $0.43 (the villain's remaining stack) and that made a very simple shove to me (although I didn't actually calculate the odds, it just felt ok to shove)

Thoughts?

I'm too rusty to make a good comment about this hand, but two things jump out to me just glancing at the HH:

1) Q8o is pretty terrible from the SB. I fold pre, and I don't think that's very debatable.
2) On the turn, just put him in.

That plus if you're going to iso OOP then bump it to much more than 4x.

For me, Q8 off is not a hand that you should play, especially make a raise with a player that already paid the blind.
In this case, I would put the opponent in all in the turn. Like you didn't bet a lot on the turn, I think your play was correct on the river.

Why are you playing Q8o OOP?
Why are you still raising to such a small amount pre?

Even with only 4 players, why are you playing Q8? - Fold.
