A boring hand, hopefully, but I have been learning too little lately.

3bet pre you can say it, but I'm mostly interested about how do you like flop raise? I have A blocker for FD, so if he re-raises hero can assume he is beat? His CB size says he doesn't have much. If he doesn't have much, he has air, bad value hand or draw.

PokerStars - $0.02 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 189.5 BB
SB: 192 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, hands: 3)
Hero (BB): 100 BB
UTG: 130 BB (VPIP: 17.65, PFR: 17.65, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 18)
MP: 293 BB (VPIP: 29.41, PFR: 11.76, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 17)
CO: 95 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A K

UTG raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 2 BB

Flop: (6.5 BB, 2 players) K 9 Q
Hero checks, UTG bets 4 BB, Hero raises to 15 BB,

Id be tempted to just peel off a card in this spot. Its either a board the raiser will smash or completely miss on.

If its the the latter, raising won't get you any value and if its the first you end up getting raised out of the pot and losing any back door equity the Ad gives you.

Don't get me wrong you can definitely get value from hands like AQ and QJ in spots like this, but you can also put yourself in a really tough spot if the initial raiser has AK to and decided to shove.

First of all you should 3b pre and take the betting lead.

But on the flop.
Why check raise?
You are going to get called/raised by better hands and worst will fold.Except from some draws, but there aren't too many.

So you should 3b, cb flop, and bet the other streets unless the board is getting worse for your hand.

,but you can also put yourself in a really tough spot if the initial raiser hasAK to and decided to shove.
The whole idea to raise is based around the idea that hero can insta fold if raised given we have blocker to flush. Problem hands are AK, like you say, but there are only 6 combos left and some 2pairs that decide only to flat. 2Pair hands probably are not super happy on this board if they only call and not too much money goes in anymore.
If he has pure air, hero won’t be getting any more out of him on this card run, so hero doesn’t mind him folding this part. Some of the backdoor equity stays if hand continues so not all backdoor equity is lost by raising. This backdoor equity probably is not enough against his re-raising range so it should have just marginal value, not value enough to build lines around it.

Why check raise?
.
Because if raised hero can insta fold. If villain folds air part we don’t care. Hero raises for value against hands that includes mostly some kind of draws, draws that are weak enough not to go all in on the flop.

Like the flat pre.
Don't like the raise flop.
Your hand is pretty hidden. Can call this down or evaluate on bad turns or big bets. Position & UTGs range is the problem here with this board.

Thx!

I leave this undecided. Surely not raising is correct too, but given I got a vote from c9 - which is quite hard =) - there surely is merit also in raising.
