What do you think about my bluff in the RIVER? I think I bet too small.
How would you play this same hand?

Personally I would play it like this, no way correct but the way I play:

Pre – I would not open A8o, ATo is my min open, I would use 3bb size

Flop – I would try to get it in by raising. Agains his actual hand you have 55%, also against donks in general you have plenty of fold equity. Raising in IP usually buys you a free turn too if he decides to call.

Turn – check (same)

River – I would give up and sometimes win by A-high when he misses the FD. As a bluff I kind of like hero’s sizing, if he missed FD he should fold to this size, I don’t think he would fold his 9x to any size given 2NL style its top pair after all and its paired board where every bet is a bluff he thinks. Also notice large difference between VPIP and PFR, this usually indicates a caller type player who are not good targets to bluff especially on the river where he only needs to call once and he has seen 5 cards to make a any hand.

Open is weak, but OK. Don't mind the CB on the wet flop, but when called I'm done with the hand.

Thank you for answers. I think my style is generally too loose. I have to try out PokerSnowie to help my analyze this kind of situations. Math is not my strongest area

The flop donk bet by SB is quite large so it is more like protection bet for me, usually I would put them on two pairs+ or at least TPGK. The most obvious candidate is 67 and also set combo, Q9 maybe

Turn if the opponent has a set, for sure would bet for value so I will remove those from his range.

As opponent does not bet the river, I would try bluff and rep a 6, possibly 80%-110% size to get TPGK folding unless he has shown ability to induce bluff or a calling station as mentioned above.

From the showdown, I would make a note the opponent does not 3bet with TT from SB facing CO openand adjust his donk bet and cold calling ranges.

Firstly i would fold preflop, but as played i would try to get it in with 70bb on that flop, just raise or even overshove that flop. Thats pretty much the best flop you could get woth A8o

What are you actually representing? A six? A made staight? I think bluffing works best on a scary river ( a river that completes draws), which is not the case, and an opponent who can lay down a hand on the river ( Look at his went to showdown/ call r stat). V looks loose, so my guess (especially at this level) is he doesn't fold many rivers. Besides, he had a good hand this time (that i personally would 3bet btw pre) , your bad luck
