$2 NLHE 6-max: Can you help me with this hand please?

Hi,

I'm new here as a poster but I read many threads over the past months as I started playing pocker online. I played about 30,000 hands, mostly full ring 5NL so far which isn't much but I'm improving reading a lot about it.

Here is from Snap 6-max on 888, I like the fast fold format because I get tough spots to learn from post flop more often while I learn 6-max.

So, here is the hand. Would you do anything differently? Bet sizing?

I have no info on villain as we play without HUD on Snap.

Thanks!

Not knowing your opponent.....I've seen numerous times at this level that his play indicates a small set waiting to see if the flush hits. That would be my guess here. Not saying I agree with CO's play...I'm just trying to make sense of his play. That, or he has AQ and waiting to see if the flush hits. A huge overbet trying to induce a call on the hopes that you think he's bluffing.

As for your play, I think it's ok. You tried to control the pot size while building for a diamond. Ace was nice on the turn. Maybe a bit bigger bet here? I don't know. Hard to fold that six handed on the river but, I certainly don't fault you for doing it and I think it was a wise fold.

Partially agree and disagree with NCDaddy.

Sets are not always raising the flop/turn, because it wants the BB to call, and thats what hes repping here. Also, all combos of 56 beat you, if he showed up with A2, A3, A4 or A5, that also beats you. AQ beats you as well. Theres too many hands that hes 6x jamming on the river with that you dont beat. How many bluffs does someone have that didnt get there? Unless he goes nuts with A10, A9, A8, etc, you're beat a lot of the time, and have to fold. And when you call, you hate it. Theres too many hands he can have on the flop or turn that didnt miss come the river. Its a bad spot, but you had to find a fold unless you know more about your opponent.

Thanks for the answers, will remember it ;)

Btw, he had A5 and made a wheel on the river, just bad luck I guess (and a very poor call from me on the river). Not sure he would have folded his ace on a bigger turn bet but think it was the right thing to do. I should have checked the river indeed…Need to learn to fold more.

River raises are extremely strong in 2NL and 5NL at least. To call you need to win at least part of his value range. Villain going all in with AK or AQ is unlikely but possible, but you don’t beat them. Thus folding river is correct play. I would even say snap fold =)

Edit: This is wonderfull video got straight to my biggest weaknes of calling rivers:

Looking forward to watching this video ^^^^

Seems thats where I lose the most money is on these huge shoves that are more skewed toward value than bluffs. Although I wish they were bluffs more often...
