With Just 11 hands on the villain it is highly -EV to just mark the villain as fish and donk, donk, donk even on a low board.

I would have tried to check call with the intention of trying to reach a cheap showdown.

Fishes don't always call with any two cards when their opponent donk 3 barrel shoves. Even if they do why take that risk here ?? They can of course have so many hands here that can have us beat. You should have definitely slowed down on the river if not the turn already.

Your thought process here was simply horrendous.

My thought process was he was calling when behind, and by the river comes he'll just do whatever because he's given up or gets extremely lucky.

He doesn't have a thought process. He just does w/e he feels like then tries to justify it.

Well tbh if we don't do whatever we feel in poker. we are ignoring our instincts and to improve our instincts we have to trust them? No matter how weird it may seem.

Thanks for your honesty btw.

Anyways he ended up having AKsuited... he caught his river.

So he called the turn card with Ace high... Normally the hand should end at the turn.

Actually re-analysing it... i'd have been happy check/folding the river cuz the 3rd club with a paired board came out. Meaning more chance to beat me if he's behind.

Surely you had made a mistake on the river.

You should have thought that many hands could beat you at that point.

I would bet all of my chips that he had you beat here. lol. With a ragged low flop like that, I would also probably think that I was ahead. However, once the villain called your flop and turn bets, you have to think he at LEAST has a flush draw. IMO, the only hands that would call both flop and turn bets would be a set, 77+, and two clubs. personally, i think he had JJ+. Once the flush fills in on the river, u have to let it go. playing those middle pairs OOP can put u in tough spots when u dont spike a set.

Yeah true but make some good money on low flops and 1 overpair :) but it does really take discipline to fold say the river spots :)

I don't normally screw up like that tbh

Right now I am playing at Americas Cardroom. (I am in the US, so I have limited options.) However, I have played at a lot of sites. (Merge, Betonline, Full Flush, ACR, and bodog.) I play anything from 2nl, up to 100nl. My home would probably be 10nl-50nl.

If he had AK of clubs he should have been raising your flop donk bet.
My experience of small overpairs facing a raiser oop is that I will check call whatever cbet they make and see if they slow down on the turn. If the bet the turn they are usually strong. If they bet I usually fold..If they check the turn it's usually the AK AQ type hands.
I don't mind donking out large to mix it up but if they call on that board you are usually toast. In your hand.... it looks pretty silly when he calls you down with JJ+. At what point are you going to believe he has you beat. You can mark up that guy for leading into when you hit your set.
