12 hands total on the opponent. Nothing out of the ordinary at this point.
I'm thinking I should've just check/called down.

NL Holdem $0.02(BB)
SB ($3.12)
BB ($2.19)
HERO ($2.79)
HJ ($2)
CO ($1.91)
BTN ($1.53)

Dealt to Hero A K

HERO Raises To $0.08, HJ Raises To $0.24, CO Folds, BTN Folds, SB Folds, BB Folds, HERO Calls $0.16 (Rem. Stack: 2.55)

Flop ($0.51) K 7 4
HERO Checks, HJ Bets $0.37, HERO Raises To $2.55 (allin), HJ Calls $1.39 (allin), HERO $0.79
Turn ($5.61) K 7 4 6

River ($5.61) K 7 4 6 8

HJ shows T A

HJ wins $3.89

The play on the flop was a bit too aggressive. Seeing he re-raised you preflop he could have had aces, a flush (draw) or even a set. Top pair top kicker was just not enough on this board, especially with no diamond.

Yeah probably best, now that I look at it away from the tables, to check/call down two streets and evaluate on the river.

I'd almost never call 3bets with AK.
It's a 4bet or a very nitty fold vs some opponents
The reason is exactly something like happened here

I wonder if you should have bet (small/modest) on the flop, instead of check.
My thinking: a raise from the villain would indicate you'r in trouble with 1 pair only.

@Alucard - I haven't looked at it in that way. A t micro-stakes on pokerstars, being unable to play against opponents for hundreds of hands to adapt to their play means a more standardized method for AK. Likely to have made him fold inevitably in this of with a 4bet. Knowing what he had,

I think the call was right for this spot as I reckon he folds AT to a 4bet and folding would be atrocious. Based on a unknown opponent like at the time 4bet/fold seems like the right move.

@8bod8 In this spot yeah, a call from him would still give me some warning to perhaps not fully commit. Being OOP is a small issue here.
