Imho it is mistake no matter how wide he jams. A5 is not very good hand to call the shove. Almost any other ace dominates you and it is very probable to split with A2-A4 (~40%), pocket pairs higher then 44 crush you (~65%-35%), most of the suited connectors higher than 5 are close to coin flip (~55%-45%) and almost all of suited random cards are ~60%-40% as long as they are higher than 5. So you have noticeably more equity only vs some totally random rag cards.

It depends

So if he is fully inadequate guy and shows close to 90% of all hands you have only 57% equity with your A4s which is not bad but from from ideal.
But there is one "no". My experience says that even on monkey tilt people don't shove unsuited crap like 85o or 96o. So if we assume he shoves 70% of all hands your equity drops to 56% which is still not worst but far from the best. I prefer to call in these situations with this range [66+,A8s+,KTs+,A8o+,KJo+] which has 64% equity and will be crushing villains poor hand selection

I often see people on poker stars shove with every hand at micro stakes.

In this case are you all saying call only with 9s+ and AJ+?

Thanks!

I don't know about you guys, but i have also met some of these types of players. Usually they look stupid by shoving 2-3 hands in a row, but when they triple up they leave immediately.
I just call them hit and runners.

And i would call with a10< and pocketpairs 88<, nothing less :deal:

Remember busting these type of players is not your job. Just play your usual game. I would muck the A5. low stack crazy shoves. makes sense to me.

Personally I want to go too safe, so about 60% equity. It’s tilting to lose these, that is why so high. Also rake is quite high.

If he shoves 50%, Eq60% range { 88+, ATs+, AJo+}
If he shoves 70%, Eq60% range { 77+, A9s+, KJs+, ATo+}
If he shoves 100%, Eq60% range { 55+, A5s+, K9s+, QJs, A8o+, KJo+}

So if he indeed shoves 100% of hands A5s gave you 60% equity which is plenty. I would fold it on the table though because I would not remember it has enough equity, A8 would be practically my first call. About similar reasoning @sarniak has. The logic goes that 8 flops enough over pairs against his kicker. A2s gives you 57%, so I guess against 100% shove range any suited ace is good enough. Interestingly A2s is favorite also against 50% shove range.

But yeah like @AspiringPlr says not many do pure 100% range.

The worse I would call would be A10, KJ, maybe K10s, and 88. I usually lose those types of hands to the all in player lol
