won a freeroll, so im starting my 2nl grind early.

don't know much about villain. only he opens utg .

pre:i feel fine set-mining.

Flop: i decide to call the flop bet on this board because i think he cbets most of his range on this board... yes/no?

Turn: Now im not really sure what to do . I'm rusty as hell and i seem to be making arguments for calling and folding..

what ya think???

Before calling the cbet on the flop, you have to decide if you take it to showdown or not. Its true that most of his range misses that flop, but there are overpairs that beat you and can beat you. Its tuff since you don't have info on villian.
As you played it I think its ok to fold. His bet on the turn is big, it makes me think he has pp like TT or JJ and he is afraid of overcards on the river. Its just my feeling. I hope my comments helo you

Not much to go on, but I find most penny games are very loose. I would have considered 3-betting preflop to define villain's hand. As played and assuming villain is loose the there are not many 2s or 5s in his range. There are more 9s, but not that many more. Other running into 22, 55, A9, K9 or pocket pairs 77 looks to be good. Call it 65% of the time. Why check call? What is your plan for the hand?

Again I favor check raising post flop. As played the 7 on the turn likely doesn't help villain and may hurt reducing the flushes outs. Folding is bad, IMHO. I'd either donk lead, or check raise.

If you are going to fold on the turn to a 7, why did you call the flop?

Double barrel usually means he will have something, perhaps flush draw or medium pp... or could be just hoping you havnt connected and will go away.

Turn i'm not convinced we are beat at this stage, and we can always check/raise turn to get our answer(check raising turn is cheaper than calling a river bet in general). If he has AK or whiffed hands he should fold and we protect our hand. If he has draws we will make a bit extra money and it'll be hard for him to bluff us on the river.

I think it's fine to just call the c-bet and see what he does on the turn.
On the turn he could definitely be bluffing this second barrel with two overcards or something. I think I would raise his bet rather than just lead, just to protect from overcards.
