Assume all players have stacks of about $400. In middle position I raise to $10 with 3c, 3d and get 8 callers (Pot=$80). Flop is Jc, 5d, 3s. Checked to me and I bet $20. 4 callers (Pot=$160). Turn is a 7h. UTG bets $60 and I raise to $125. Very tight player on the button calls and UTG (who is new to the table and thus no reads) calls (Pot=$535). River is a Jh. UTG goes all in for his last $250. What would you do?

I would have put in a respectable raise somewhere in this hand. Wow, you are very lucky that the board was so kind to you.

As played, I still think we call this. This looks like AJ, KJ enough of the time to warrant a call.

UTG randomly woke up? He might have us outboated, but there's no way we fold here, so we call and hope to get paid by AJ type stuff.

well he's limp/check/calling/betting, so it's looking like a big jack. The only hands I can see him having here are 77/AJ/KJ or something that looks like that. Most likely it's 77, but unfortunately, we're going to have to call and as Vanq said, hope to get paid off by AJ/KJ

Without trying to be rude, you played this hand very poorly.

PF raise is terrible, flop bet is way too small, as is your turn raise.

As played, we have to call this river getting more than 3:1. Button's cold call on the turn scares the hell out of me, and it's possible he has something like 55 or maybe 77, but we can't let this go.

Raising significant amounts on earlier streets would have made your later decisions much easier.

Chuck – I am not going to disagree with you, I appreciate the feedback and I agree that I played poorly. looking back on the hand I would have still raised to $10 PF just to build a pot if I hit – maybe in the future if I’m going to do that I raise to $15/20+. I knew I’d get many callers. If I hit I had enough in front of me to scare off anyone else who hit (so I thought). I absolutely should have bet more on the flop and raised more on the turn but I was greedy pure and simple. I did not see any way I could get outdrawn with that flop and if it was set over set I’m going broke anyway. In any event, I did get outdrawn, UTG turns over J7 for a higher FH. Button didn’t show.

So even though I played too weakly UTG had 4 outs on the turn. To his credit he did have the best hand when he got MOST of his $$ in. There was no way I could fold a FH though, and maybe with top 2 pair he wasn’t going anywhere even if I did push on the turn. Live and learn.

Zeebo says you will call. I agree with Taylor's statements: raise more PF and you have to bet the flop and turn harder.
