Any reads on villian?

Why are limping baby pairs if you are afriad to put all your money with bottom set? Shove, if he folds you still take a huge pot but if he folds he is a fool.

Also I hate your check raise, I would rather just see you bet out.

This is 2 pair/OESD/poorly played KK/AA sooooooo much more often than an overset. Do yourself a favor and NEVER even consider anything other than shoving. He's committed himself to the pot, so there's no real need to do anything other than shove. Yes, if he has 88/99 it will suck but in the long run doing anything other than getting AI is the mistake.

I also like leading here or at the very least ch/raising the BTNs bet. Your ch/call/3bet line looks very odd.

Thanks for the response guys!! Yeah I did end up shoving and lost to 99 in the end. but in restrospect to what you guys have told me I can't put him on 99 or 77 without a PF raise and I can expect to stack this guy most of the time. Reeespect! :)

Ya, set over set is not something you should worry about...however the way you played this hand was so odd.

What was your thought process? I thought the check wasn't a terrible idea if the 4 other players were pretty aggressive and if you planned on c/r'ing but you then just flatted the bet. You've got a big hand and you want to build up the pot which is definitely possible with 4 players in the hand. Possible draws, 2 pairs, slowplayed overpairs, and maybe even overcards will call, you are missing a lot of value by not c/raising this immediately.

If you are 3-betting make that bet a lot bigger so you can have an easier time getting your stack in on the turn or river, especially being that deep. Not to mention giving draws worse odds to come along, 67, JT and possible others (although now that I think of it, not many people are re-raising like this with those draws).

Yeah you're are absolutely right my line was shocking there, not too sure what I was thinking actually haha. Should've been jamming that pot up from the word go. I think I was trying to induce a shove from my opponent as he was playing really aggresively, but looking back at my line I don't know how I was trying to acheive this haha :) thanks again for all the responses

Understand that there are only 6 ways he can have a set. There are 12 ways he can have 9-8. And we can't completely discount the possibility that he's doing this with an overpair either. Oh, and he was the BB, so don't throw out 9-3 or 8-3, either.

I'm trying hard to come up with a single hand I've played where I wouldn't have been happy to get it in on the flop with a set, and for the life of me, I can't recall it ever happening.
