At NL10 he could have absolutely anything. My guess A3 suited.

Raise preflop to gain info, as is, push or fold but I'd prefer a push because his raising range in position is very broad on this flop.

Really, calling preflop here is very bad since we have no idea where we stand and have to play OOP for the remainer of the hand.

Thks for the comments. I hear what you are saying with the raise pre-flop, and I definately thought about it. However, at the time I decided my hand was JJ - Just Jacks, and I would wait for the flop. However, I think yr are right a reraise here is probably right in most cases.

In any event, after the raise, I was feelin kinda frisky and did in fact push all in. He called with QQ and the turn and river were immaterial. I didnt really expect that - I thought a higher pocket pair would have re-raised preflop.

This is why I said fold/shove after not raising preflop. Had you reraised the field and after getting called, placing a bet and getting raised, you would've known you were beat. As is, you could fold, but that would be less than optimal since I'll routinely raise with position with TPGK or on a draw (and villain could be doing just that). Sure, you end up putting more money in the pot, but this is money you save at the end of the year, wich turns out in a higher hourly.

Re raise pre flop. I would rather take it down early out of position. If he calls well you still got a hand to play, if he shoves, then you have a decision to make.

Having got to the flop. I recking I am shoving all my chips in there. Although a fold isn't the worst play in the world if you really think you are beat

It is $10 NL, and there are some crazy cookies out there :D

You are beat by QQ KK AA. 22 44 88. 22 and 44 are a bit unlikely raising from early position. 88 possibly.

At that level, although not everyone there is a bad player, the range you can put players on is much higher. hands you are beating, any random hand as a bluff. A8 quite possible. A4 is also possible if he decided to raise with A4 sooted. AK and AQ aren't out of the question, how many times you seen players that just refuse to let go.

Could also be one of the lower PP's thinking he is still good on that raggy flop. 33 55 66 77 99 1010

I reckon it is a shove

If you shove the flop you're turning your hand into a bluff right - why would you want do this? What's folding that you don't beat already? The only reason to shove would be because you hope to get a call from A8 / 99 / TT, but it seems like quite a bad move.

If I'm in disciplined mode I'd fold since it's a very dry board and a set seems likely... but more often I'd call and check the turn, probably folding a lot.
