Im taking a shot here at 5/10 (I usually play 2/5) Anyways, this is literally my 4th hand on the table, and I have no reads whatsoever.

Stacks:

* SB with $4.70
* BB with $10.00
* UTG with $11.20
* MP with $9.85
* BTN with $9.95

hand.pl

hand.pl

Blinds: $0.05/$0.10
Site: pokerstars
* * Dealt to MP:5♣ 5♠
* * Sklansky group 6
Preflop:
* * UTG raises $0.30 to $0.40 Hero calls [$0.40]
* * 2 players fold.
* * BB calls [$0.30]
* * Total folds this street: 2
* * Potsize: $1.25
Flop: 3♦ 5♦ 6♥
* * BB: checks
* * UTG bets [$0.90] Hero calls [$0.90]
* * BB raises $8.70 to $9.60 [ all-in ]
* * UTG calls [$8.70] Hero????

Okay. Totally at a loss on this one, need some help. Also, I'm wondering if i feel like Im up against straight/flush draw type of hand i.e. 50/50 from the flop, is it worth the risk of losing my only Buy In at this level?

I also understand that flatting this on the flop was potentially dangerous play considering the draws, but I had every intention of re-evaluating the hand on the turn if the board turned ugly.

So here is a hypothetical. Lets assume that the guy raising UTG has a big hand preflop. Let's even go so far as to assume that he has AA and one is the ace of diamonds.

Let's put the BB on a big draw, since that is your biggest threat. I'll give him 10-4 of diamonds for the open straight, and flush draws.

You are still better than an even money favorite (54%) to win the hand, and you are getting better than 2 to 1.

Why are you not all-in already?

Don't fold sets, and raise the flop. And you can't be worried about it being your only buy-in at this level. You either have equity in the pot or you don't.

Raise the flop, happily call for stacks. As played it's a clear call.

And ya, you really shouldn't be worried about losing; it sounds like you're underrolled or in some way playing with scared money. If you're a favourite to win the hand, you get your money in - plain and simple. Here, you're a clear favourite.

Nah, not severely underrolled here, my BR is sitting at $160 when I buy in. I just don't like to grind my way up from 5nl and move up only to take a shot like this and blow 2 $5 buy ins when it is only my 4th hand in.

That's the definition of scared money. But I feel ya.

Some would consider 160 somewhat under-rolled for 10nl. Maybe some wouldn't...
