Our villain is a 25/5/2 player ... we haven't seen TOO much of him but know he tends to get it in with TPTK type of hands.

The question is first are we flatting or raising. If you say raising, are we stacking?

If he check-raises the flop often enough (like %15+) for there to be a significant amount of bluffs in there then I think there's room to flat and give him some more rope.

Otherwise we have to get the money in before he either outdraws us, or slows down with Jx when a spade/Q/overcard/whatever scares him on the turn.

yea, i actually like to click it back here, raising it to $24 cuz for some reason it tends to monkeytilt donks and he might even ship it in on a total bluff. If he has the J he's still not letting go and he'll probably jam the draw anyways.

Why just $24? Wouldn't you be afraid of him holding spades? Wouldn't your rather raise it to ~$48? What are our odds, if he is holding spades and catches one on the turn or river, that we will improve our hand to a 4 of a kind/boat?

Clicking it back means min 3betting a minraise. I do it b/c, as i mentioned it causes a lot of donks to spaz out and continue bluffing and hes probably jamming draws anyways so we dont have to be really worried about him flatting with a draw.

Okay, just wanting to understand why you would do that.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I actually just jammed right away and he snap called. Looking back I figured shoving there probably was very villain dependent and not a great move to get others to get it in.

Does the results of the hand matter? Not really ;)

He showed K8 for the massive cooler and won the pot. But the morning after I looked at the hand and wondered if he just had two pair or the flush draw if shoving there was a bad move, so I wanted to post it here for next time so (ideally) when it is the best hand I can really get the best amount of value. River value bets are something I am focusing on, as well as "getting it in" decisions when you are ahead (most likely).

Thank you!;)

Edit: BTW, was this K8 suited or not?

I'd get some money in and take the pot down.. He could be chasing a high flush and if he's holding a J or drawing for a straight you dont want to really see another card w/o him paying a lot..

Shoving is bad imo. He needs 2:1 to call it off on a naked flush draw. You don't give him those odds if you shove.

The play should be to make a small 3-bet and let him ship it in.
