Villan played this pretty good. After the turn it was obvious you either had a flush or the the nut flush draw. So when he hit the boat on the river and the 4th heart came out his check was really really good. Why? Well with the 4 hearts out and a pair on the board he was giving you the chance to bet your made flush and then get all the money in. If he bets out, you might suspect the boat and make a big laydown or if you don't have the nut flush you obviously have to fold to any bet so he also gives you a chance to bluff at the pot.

You way out was raising either the flop or turn and possibly getting him to lay down his set before the river.

you can probably get away from this to the raise on the river, unless you have a read that he can bluff in this spot with some degree of frequency. that being said, only a small % of 100NL players would actually be able to make a fold here

the nut flush looks pretty, until you realize after his check-raise on the river that you're literally only beating a bluff. what was the nuts on the flop is now nothing but a bluff-catcher. that would be a pretty awful card to check-raise bluff for villain because your line looks like a flush draw or flopped flush. and even though i think the Ah should often be a fold here, villain can't possibly expect the average 100NLer to ever lay that down here enough to make it anything close to a profitable bluff for him. plus, the EP limp-call preflop looks like a pocket pair

it comes down to a quick estimate of what % of the time he's bluffing here compared to the pot odds you're getting. i just find it really unlikely to be a bluff in this spot, from most players.. like under 15% or so, so I'd throw up and fold

I'm a fan of betting/re-raising out from the flop....

Can you lay it down... It'd be impressed. There is a lot in that pot, and I don't know how you can't put him on a king high flush, or a number of other hands that could be beat by your Nut-flush. You would have to have a really good read on Ehor.

The thing is in the cold light of day you can rationise the fact that he likely has the Full house. However the emothions of play and need for fast(ish) decisions online make this a very hard lay down.

if you look at the other facts.
- you are having to call another 45 to with circa 150.
- That means that if he is bluffing/semi bluffing 30% of the time then its a valid call.

He could easily have KK, or a K(h) or a queen and feel pot committed.

I agree that the in principle the slow play is dangerous and a check/raise or Raise earlier in the hand in general avoids getting beat in thesescenarios - however I do not think he was ever going to fold the set regardless of the flop - based on my original raise.

That's a tough one to lay down, you really should have left the results out of this until you got some feedback.
But the check/raise by villian on the river when the board paired should have tipped you off somewhat(answer is probably totally results oriented, but I have learned something from this thread)

he would not have raised on the river if he had a flush. His check on the river was an excellent trap to make u think he had the king high flush and another heart in his hand and then was scared of u holding ace of hearts. The raise on the river was the final part of his trap. nothing u can do u both played well.

to the couple people that mentioned the "possibility" of the K high flush... this is never ever ever the K high flush unless villain is the worst player in the history of time.

he's going to check-raise all-in on the river with the K high flush WHY..? he can't possibly expect anyone to call with worse (Qh? lol) and he can't expect anyone to fold better (nut flush or full house). it makes about as much sense as shoving 100 BBs all-in preflop with 23o i.e. none

Raise the flop! Villain will put you on a draw and shove, or call if he's on draw. That way you might be able to get the money in when you're actually ahead.

noone ever puts you on a flopped flush. I like to get my action out there early if I do flop it, hoping they caught a big piece. If you get all the $ in right there and he catches runner runner, so be it.

You're flop and turn play here are TERRIBLE...I MEAN REALLLLY BAD. You flopped the flush, any heart or board pairing is bad for your hand...thats 1/3 of the deck....why on earth would you not raise EITHER of teh streets?
