I have been playing ~20/18/4 with 7% 3bet. Villain is 24/21/6 over 170 hands. I seem to get stuck in this situation a lot and I'm kind of confused whether I should be betting this flop or just giving up. Also, if you're just giving up here, whats a good board texture to bet?

CO: $305.90 (305.9 bb)

Bet! I might even call a shove from players who get spewy in 3-bet pots, but you kinda need reads for that.

As far as good flop texture for c-bets in 3-bet pots, I generally like to avoid c-betting the "dry" board textures like 226r or 559tt or stuff like that. Players call with 88+ a lot in 3-bet pots, and no pair is giving up on those flops. Ace high flops are kinda dangerous too, since players will call 3-bets with AQ, AK, and even sometimes AJ (lol).

I'm c-betting pretty much any flop that's Q-T high, and isn't monotone.

Can I get a Fold to 3-bet %?

C-bet whatever you would normally c-bet.

its 86%, but only 170 hands
Hmmm, well we should certainly be c-betting less. If this guy is fairly passive, I might just try to check this down. But since he's a 24/21/6, he's probably not, so lets go ahead and fire ~2/3 pot or whatever the usual is.

I still think you should be folding this preflop. Trying to play 44 oop vs an aggressive player is close to impossible. I absolutely do not get why ppl here think that 3 betting small pps in the blinds is a +EV play.

Honestly, do you really think a 24/22 or whatever guy is not going to float you on this flop? If you cbet, you really have to double barrel and then you are just potentially spewing money everywhere. Or you what try to call down on "safe" turn/river cards? Just fold preflop imo and completely advoid trying to play this situatino.

@ feitr

Would you c-bet AK in this situation? What about 2To?

With a fold to 3-bet % of 86%, I think its a mistake to fold sailboats pre. But then again, that wouldn't be nitty.... >_<

i think there's a huge misunderstanding about this concept. the idea behind 3betting these hands is not because we want to or expect to get called (unless the guy will fold to way too many c-bets postflop). generally we do it because they'll fold preflop often enough, and they're good hands to balance our 3betting range with because we can't profitably call with them. the guy has a very high fold to 3bet %, so it's definitely a good spot. to take the logic further, if their preflop 3bet calling range is tight, it means that these are pretty good hands to have the times we do get called, because it means we'll stack them when we hit sets a good amount of the time. vs. players who defend light against 3bets and will call you down with most any piece of the board or even float you, then 3betting these hands is generally ill-advised and spewy

re: the hand, the flop texture is of course not the best, but you still definitely have to bet this OOP having represented strength

ya this is a very standard 3bet for me with a guy who folds that often to them. Whether you cbet or not depends largely on his fold to flop bet and wtsd type stats. I think generally people who fold this often to 3bets will have a pretty strong range once they call, and generally play that range pretty aggressively, so I may be looking to ch-f here. Otherwise just cbet if his ffb is more than 75 or something.

Is there a way I can buy HEM through transfers of some sort? They told me they only do credit cards (which I don't have), paypal, Absolute/UB transfer (Yeah..... ok). Perhaps I should see if someone wants to trade some FT/Stars money for PayPal money so I can buy it? (No HUD sucks and I want 3bet stats!)

Ok, i only read the OP before responding so i didn't see the fold to 3B% that was posted afterwards. It just fires me up when ppl start 3Betting these hands without it being immediately profitable (high fold to 3B% or fit or fold flop players) :(. But yea nothing wrong with 3betting a wide range in this situation vs a guy who will fold this much preflop.

But i'd probably c/f this flop because obviously the higher fold to 3B% the tighter his 3B calling range is and we fold out so little of it on this flop/get floated by the rest of his range. Cbetting this flop is fine vs some villains, but vs a 24/21/6 who plays a tight range in 3B pots i'd just give it up, because there is basically no way you are going to be able to win this pot unless he gives it to you (and 24/21/aggro is not the sort of player who is going to be weak tight postflop). If he has a really high fold to cbet then sure fire away, but if that was the case it would add up to the oddest 24/21 player i have ever seen in my entire life.
