Villian is 21/14/2.8 44% fold to 3bet over 200ish hands. Villian hadnt done anything too crazy and I have no notes on him.

Is this a call? How about flop/turn play?

I'm usually just flatting pf. 3betting is almost turning your hand into a bluff against this guy.

As played I probably can't let go of the flop raise, but definitely fold the turn. Guys like these just don't bluff very often in 3bet spots like these. It's too likely you'll look him up.

I agree that folding the turn is best but don't you think his being on the button and low fold to 3-bet stat makes three-betting here profitable?

I'm trying to come up with something to add to this, but I don't know if I can.

To expand on him bluffing, though, is that it almost has to be air. If he's decent - and he has stats to suggest that he at least knows a few things about poker - then it seems a bit on the spewy side for him to turn A9/88 into what's essentially a bluff here. It's a decent play with T8, but that shouldn't be in his range very often to begin with.

Chuck: What if we had QQ, here?

Then I'd have probably played it the same way but snapcalled the turn.

Me too. Because JJ and TT are a fairly major part of his range when he does this, is how I figure.
