This was an online hand.
So Im sitting with 26bb on the button (.5/1, no ante), I would characterize my opponents as LAG, a pretty solid female player.
The standard preflop raise was 2x for both of us. I'm dealt 10s8c and I raise to
She flats and the flop comes 5s8d9d.
She checks and I bet 1/2 pot (I had been c-betting about 80-90% of flops and she was calling about 50% and raising 5%). Here she raises 3x to $6 and I flat. In this spot I think she could have 55, 88,99, 10d-9x, 76, 10s+, and j10+ with 2 diamonds or a10+ with the ace of diamonds.

The turn comes an offsuit queen (The pot is now 16 )and she leads into me for $9. To me this lead looks weak and I haven't been playing super loose so she can't expect to get value out of a lot of drawing hands here which pretty much polarizes her range--she could have AQ, or a set or some draw or combo draw.
I decide to call with the intention of folding to any river bet.

The pot is now 34 and I have a 1:1 spr, she checks and I check behind. She turns over K10 with the 10 of diamonds.

I think I played this recently, short stacked and heads up with position I think middle pair is enough to call a raise against a LAG player when there are lots of draws.

I'm wondering what you guys think about how I played and the line she took, there is something to be said for floating the flop and turn bets and then potentially bluffing the river, but I don't think this was a very unordinary play either.

I'm obviously not the best person to answer to this, but to me it looked totally standard play. What was the river card?

i'm not keen on floating the flop with a wet board when you have made a pair. I think your pair needs to be protected...so i like your flop bet, esp as oppo has checked to you.

I think, if oppo was a thinking player, and i am sure that they were, they might have checked the turn Q holding AQ/KQ/JQ/QT...hoping to trap and entice a bet from you...quite possibly ranging you (correctly) with an 8 or 9 pair. As it was, their turn lead out was a weak semi bluff holding 2 overs and a gutterball ( but it's easy with hindsight, huh) hoping to push you off the pot.

your 8(8) has showdown value here, but not much else,...only a better hand would call you, and you could easily get reraised if the river card hit oppo well... so i like your river check too.

nice hand

She checks and I bet 1/2 pot (I had been c-betting about 80-90% of flops and she was calling about 50% and raising 5%). Here she raises 3x to $6 and I flat. In this spot I think she could have 55, 88,99, 10d-9x, 76, 10s+, and j10+ with 2 diamonds or a10+ with the ace of diamonds.

Very nice hand and great analysis. I am micro stakes player, so I am not playing on such stakes, but maybe you will like my thoughts here anyway ;).

I am wondering, why actually bet the flop in such spot. On one hand I understand protection, but second pair, medium kicker will face hard decision in case of 3 bet and half pot bet almost never makes her fold good draws. I would just check behind here for pot control. Don't get me wrong, I think that c-bet here has some merits, but most often you will get to fold weak draws and weaker hands. I am actually surprised how she played this, KT with diamond here is weird hand for bluffing as it doesn't have much equity here. EDIT: actually looking at your c-bet stats it may make sense ;)

Well played in my opinion, would have been unfortunate if her bluff turned into a hand with a K or 10 on the river, but luckily you took down the pot.

pretty much not playing this short.

Putting AQ in her range is pretty wrong here. Females tend to play on the tighter side on average.

When betting or raising they tend to lean on the value side rather than semi bluffing.

I think this strategy is pretty bad in all angles.

Why playing short stacked.. and calling a raise when we cant really improve is really dredful.

................................................

On a side note though people tend to make mistakes against shortstackers. So probably on turn if I think people will make mistakes i'd prefer a shove on the turn. Especially if I think people will call me down with Ax or pretty much any whiffed broadways hoping to get lucky.
