Hero: ~$120 (BTN)
Villain: ~ 100 ( Cutoff), no specific read
Hijack : been opening quite a bit, seemed loose pf

HJ raised to $3, Villain 3 bet to $9, Hero 4bet to $24 with JdJh. HJ folded, Villain smoothed.

Flop Qs 3c 5c; Villain checked, Hero cbet $30. Villain smoothed (shocking, was totally expecting an all in or fold)

Turn: 7c, Villain shoved for $46. Hero ??

Hero 4bet preflop because both SB and BB were pretty loose preflop so he didnt want to play jacks multi-way. Decided to bet on the flop because Hero didn't want the Villain to assume he had AK and try to bluff him off the hand on the turn. Not the best turn but why would the villain do that with say AQ? If the Villain had AA KK or even AKc or AQc wouldnt it make more sense for him to just shove on the flop?

Any comments and insights on this hand would be greatly appreciated!

I think you played it fine as long as you folded turn. Betting flop/giving up would be my standard I think, although I might check back sometimes. SPR makes this an annoying spot, I don't hate you if you called.

He used the 3rd club/str8 card as a scare card to bluff, or the nuts. AKc? Would be weird if he had AQ, AA, or KK shoving when a 3rd club hit. Also the bet on the flop was not really enough to make any draws fold.

why are you cold 4b pre? Why not just flat? What do you hope to accomplish by cbetting? It's probably not terrible but it seems you didn't think at all about the cbet and if you think it's allin or fold then it is actually a pretty terrible cbet.

Pretty much in agreement with baudib, except I probably make the call due to SPR for those times he shows up with AcJx or something like that. You also need to use a HUD if you're going to play 100NL online

jacks is a tricky hand. I think that the calling range of the villian to a 4bet is TT+ and AQ+, even id he is loose, with what coild he be calling a 4bet. the Q on the flop is pretty much in his range. I would probably don't make cbet, because I don't want to be commited.

Appreciate the comments guys. The reason behind my cold 4bet is that I was worried that SB or BB or HJ might tag along and I would be stuck with a marginal hand 3 or 4 ways. Had I flat the 3bet and it came A,K,Q high I wouldn't know what to do, so I am basically just set mining? Been losing loads of money playing Queens and Jacks tbh.

Agreed with the point about possibly check behind but if I were him with AK or worse I would definitely take a stab on the turn if the 4bettor checked behind. Not sure if this logic is flawed. :dontknow:
