$1/$2 live full-ring NLHE played at my local casino. I am the chip leader (UTG) with about $600 in front of me. Next is the villain (SB) with about $320 in front of him. Everyone else has between $100 and $300. Most players on this table are fairly loose-passive (like most live poker players really).

Hero (UTG) is dealt As Ac
SB posts $1

MP1 calls $15
MP2 calls $15
BTN calls $15
SB calls $15

SB bets $40 (has $220 behind)
Hero calls $40

What do you think of the way I played this hand? Should I have limp-raised preflop instead of open-raising? Should I have bet bigger on the flop? Should I have barreled the turn? Should I have raised or folded on the river? Or did I play correctly?

I wouldnt want to bet much more OTF because thats an ugly board.

His sizing makes it very unlikely he has a straight, so I would raise to $120ish and get value from 2 pair.

My concern was that if I bet too much (like say $60 instead of $30), then I'd be in a tough spot if someone with a $150 stack decides to shove. By choosing a small sizing, I can extract thin value from Kx and Qx hands, as well as getting away when I'm beat.

His sizing makes it very unlikely he has a straight, so I would raise to $120ish and get value from 2 pair.

After the hand I spent a long time asking myself whether I should've raised the river to get value off counterfeited 2 pair hands like KQ/KT/QT. I just worried too much about him having a hand like AJ/J9 (straight).

I don't think he has a straight often enough for us to just flat here.

AA so many callers i think i didnt raise enough. learn what amount gets what callers.. perhaps 16 or 21

anyways that flop we have to be in a showdown value mode and get to river as cheap as possible.

i wouldve checked flop n make kx do calling mistakes on the river

I actually thought $15 was almost too large of a raise sizing... generally I'll only raise to $8-$12 from UTG and I'll typically get about 2 callers. I was actually very surprised that a $15 raise got 4 callers.

I wanted to fold out low pocket pairs on the flop. I also wanted to get thin value off Jx, Qx and Kx. I knew there was the chance that someone called preflop with a hand like K7s, so even though I was quite worried, I thought that it's still possible to get some thin value and protection with a small flop Cbet.

But anyway, what do you think of the flat-call on the river?

we beat his 2 pairs seein board paired.. if he has 6 hes bad enougb to have king junk... if he has a straight he lost value and we saved money

maybe a bit too ambitious to raise river but that river does help us a lot of times so actually raising isnt bad at all...

hmm also turn seemed like a brick if we raise flop why not turn?? cuz if a J lands we def in trouble it seems or A could be dirty so we could lose value by not betting turns... think what rivers fall and if it scares the action

Villain ended up flipping over JTo... I was very surprised at the line he took, but also very glad he didn't check-raise the flop or I might've had to fold.

Just because he has worse doesn't mean he is calling with worse. I'd raise against some villains and flat against others.

AA and that board with 5 other players. I think you have beat alot with two pair hands. But the run out for your hand was great. I think you just call the guy down is fine.
