$100 NL HE 6-max: JJ facing River Overbet Shove

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 66/36/1.6

I have 45 hands on villain so far, and seems to be maniacal. His River aggression is 1.5 w/ a 25% frequency although it means basically nothing since we have no hands on him.

I have been 20/18/2.5 or so

I plan on ch/calling river here b/c every draw possible has whiffed (diamonds, 9x, 5x). I think he probably would've raised a set at some point. Even terrible players like this know to raise sets on 678ss boards.

He shoves river which threw me off a little. I was figuring he would probably like 1/2-2/3 pot his missed draws and check back his weak 8x,7x hands. Basically he is repping a slowplayed flopped straight or Q8, Q7.

With all the missed draws do u still call this?

If he's truly a maniac it's just as possible he's got 27, 34 or AT though... (ie anything and most of it isn't worth a thing)

trying to put a maniac on a single hand is usually impossible

I think it is pretty clear he is bluffing or he has a big hand. I just don't know
why someone would shove a big hand there and try to push you out. I think
you got to call.

He might have it he might not. From the way your portraying him i would recommend you call him. Chances are he would of shoved ahead of time if he had hit that flop being a maniac. Much like Tygran said about it being impossible to put a maniac on a hand... that's absolutely right. It is all always a gamble.

i think i make the crying call here. his range is pretty wide with that 66vpip. if he happened to get lucky with Q8d (dont see a maniac really playing that slowly), so be it, but the strength he is representing is for a very narrow range of hands.

we're beating a lot of combo hands here, 99, TT, overs with diamonds, etc. really only fearing KQd/AQd i think.

he's not repping many hands + he's 66/36 + a ton of draws whiffed. also he may not even bet this large with Qxd since he's obviously wanting to get called by worse. not that you can give this guy too much credit for a thought process, but there's usually something going on in their head that resembles logic

so yeah, i think it's a pretty automatic call.

my prediction is that you called and he won with something dumb that he inexplicably slowplayed flop and turn with, because he's goofy. but still def a call

Nah, I called and he showed 42d. Just wanted to make sure my thought process was good. And the overbet kinda threw me as most donks dont like to overbet shove bluffs
