$100 NL HE 6-max: Flopped set line check

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 23/19/3

Villain seems like standard TAG, but no other significant reads.

Hero (SB): $100.00
BB: $122.80
UTG: $63.10
MP: $127.55
CO: $32.05
BTN: $100.00

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is SB with 8 :spade: 8 :club:
1 fold, MP raises to $3, 2 folds, Hero calls $2.50, BB calls $2

Flop: ($9.00) 8  3 :diamond: A :club: (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, MP bets $5, Hero calls $5, BB folds

Turn: ($19.00) Q :spade: (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $14.50, Hero raises to $41.30, MP calls $26.80

River: ($101.60) Q :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets $50.70 all in, MP calls $50.70

My only real question is whether the river is a profitable shove, wouldn't mind analysis on the rest of the streets if you see anything odd.

What makes you think the river isn't profitable? You're afraid of AA, QQ and AQ.

Would you ever bluff shove the river? No? Why not? Because people don't fold.

So if you have the near-nuts, you're putting your money in every time.

The hand on the whole looks fine to me.

I'm just asking because I was wondering if something like AJ/AK still call the river. I'm repping a pretty strong, narrow range and I'm not sure if Ax calls here very often.

I think you played that hand perfectly. Your shove at that point is only half the pot, it's not a gross overbet whatsoever.

yeah c/c the dry flop is a great play on a dry board, and the c/r on the turn to line up stacks on the river is just how you should have played it, and finally the river push after you gain the lead in the pot is great

final marks

100%

Ya, I guess I must be a little bit results oriented as it happened just a little while ago lol. Villain ended up tabling AQ for the runner runner boat.

3 hands later on another table ran AK into AA for a 300bb pot... Running soooooo bad :(

Well that's what poker discussion is for. You know the play is profitable, and there's no need to doubt your play. Keep grinding and the variance will start to shift your way :)

Ya I know its just that I'm going through a massive downswing lately and it really screws with my confidence which I've lately realized is like #1 in playing poker.

Just gotta keep grindin

Especially since he seems like an aggro reg just raise the flop. You should get no respect because you basically rep nothing. Also it's hard for you to ch/c then be bluffing when you ch/r. I mean this is fine but I just ch/r flop but as played just ship river.

The flop/turn action definitely makes me think he has an ace. There are 0 straight or flush draws out there, so it's kind of odd that he flats the turn instead of pushing. Certainly he's pushing turn with AQ and less than 50% behind, and I think he plays flop differently with Aces, so you should be golden. Only hand you have to worry for is QQ. So yeah push is profitable, and look for him to flip something like AK
